5.8.1 Veress Insufflation
Veress insufflation is a gentle type of insufflation that prevents exceeding the
preset nominal pressure by the actual pressure even in cases of small volumes.
To minimize the risks of a faulty incision, the manufacturer recommends using
the Veress insufflation mode to start a procedure (filling abdomen with CO
CAUTION!
Please note that the automatic venting system is not active during Veress insuf-
flation.
The activation of Veress Insufflation depends on the chosen indication.
Bariatric, Standard indication: With a nominal flow setting of ≤ 5 l/min, Veress
insufflation is displayed after pressing the Start/Stop switch.
Pediatric indication: With a nominal flow setting of ≤ 1 l/min, Veress insufflation
is displayed after pressing the Start/Stop switch.
Cardio indication: In this indication, Veress insufflation is not available.
When setting higher nominal gas flow values, highflow mode is automatically
activated (see chapter 5.8.2 Highflow Insufflation).
5.8.2 Highflow Insufflation
Highflow mode is the most common insufflation type in Standard and Bariatric
indications. Leaks are compensated quickly, the required nominal pressure is
reached as fast as possible.
The Highflow mode should be selected if the surgery is not started with a Veress
needle, e.g., when using Hasson trocars.
5.8.3 Profiles
The Profiles mode offers the possibility to select previously defined user-specific
profiles (see chapter 7.1 Profiles on how to create profiles). A profile is selected
after selecting the indication on the Standard, Bariatric, Pediatric or Cardio pag-
es.
