for Snow Throwers
Training
1.
Read theoperatingand serviceinstruction manualcare-
fully.Bethoroughly familiarwiththecontrols andtheproper
use of the equipment.Know how to stop the unit and
disengagethe controlsquickly.

Never allow children to operate the equipment.Never
allow adults to operate the equipmentwithoutproper
instruction.
3.
Keepthearea ofoperation clear ofallpersons,particularly
smallchildren,and pets.
4.
Exercisecaution to avoid slippingor falling, especially
when operatingin reverse.
Preparation
1.
Thoroughlyinspectthe area where the equipmentis to
be used and removeall doormats,sleds,boards, wires
and otherforeign objects.
2.
Disengageall clutchesand shiftintoneutralbeforestart-
ingthe engine.
3.
Do notoperatetheequipmentwithoutwearingadequate
wintergarments.Wear f ootwearwhichwillimprove footing
on slipperysurfaces.
4.
Handle fuel with care;it is highlyflammable.
a) Use an approvedfuel container.
b) Never add fuel to a runningor hot engine.
c) Fill fuel tank outdoorswithextremecare.
Neverfill fuel tank indoors.
d) Replacegasoline capssecurely andwipeupspilled fuel.
5.
Usea groundedthree-wire plug-in for allunitswithelectric
drive motorsor electricstartingmotors.
6.
Adjust the collectorhousing height to clear gravel or
crushed rocksurface.
7.
Neverattemptto makeany adjustments whilethe engine
is running(except where specificallyrecommendedby
manufacturer).
8.
Do not clear snow across the face of slopes.Exercise
extremecautionwhen changingdirectionon slopes.Do
not attemptto clear steepslopes.
9.
Never operatethe snowthrowerwithoutproperguards,
plates or othersafety protective devicesin place.
10. Never operatethe snowthrowernear glassenclosures,
automobiles, w indow wells,drop-offs, e tc.withoutproper
adjustmentof the snow dischargeangle. Keep children
and pets away.

clear snowat too fast a rate.
12. Never operatethe machineat hightransportspeedson
slipperysurfaces.Use care when reversing.
13. Never directdischargeat bystanders or allowanyonein
front of the unit.
14. Disengage powerto the collector/impeller w hen snow
throweris transported or not in use.
15. Use onlyattachmentsand accessoriesapprovedby the
manufacturer o fthesnowthrower ( suchaswheelweights,
counterweights, cabs, etc.).
16. Never operatethe snowthrower withoutgood visibility
or light.Alwaysbe sure of yourfooting, and keep a firm
holdon the handles.Walk;never run.
Maintenance and Storage
1.
Check shear bolts, engine mounting bolts,etc., atfrequent
intervals for proper tightness to be sure the equipment is
in safe working condition.
2.
Never store the machine with fuel in the fuel tank inside
a building where ignition sources are present such as hot
water and space heaters, clothes dryers, etc. Allow the
engine to cool before storing in any enclosure.
3.
Always refer to owner's guide instructions for important
details if the snow thrower is to be stored for an extended
period.
4.
Maintain or replace safety and instructions labels, as
necessary.
5.
Run the machine a few minutes after throwing snow to
prevent freeze-up of the collector/impeller.

The operation of any powered machine can result in

Operation

Do not put hands or feet near or under rotatingparts.
Keepclear of the dischargeopeningat all times.
2.
Exerciseextremecautionwhen operatingon or crossing
graveldrives, w alks,or roads. S tayalertfor hidden hazards
or traffic.
3.
After striking a foreign ob ect, stop the engine, remove
the wire from the spark plug, thoroughly inspect the snow
thrower for any damage and repair the damage before
restarting and operating the snow thrower.
4.
If the unit should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the
engine and check immediately for the cause. Vibration is
generally a warning of trouble.
5.
Stop the engine whenever you leave the operating posi-
tion, before unclogging the collector/impeller housing or
discharge guide and when making any repairs, ad ust-
ments or inspections.
6.
When cleaning, repairing, or inspecting make certain
the collector/impeller and all moving parts have stopped.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, and keep the wire away
from the plug to prevent accidental starting. Disconnect
the cable on electric motors.
7.
Do not run the engine indoors, except when starting it -
and for moving the snow thrower in or out of the building.
Open the outside doors; exhaust fumes are dangerous. 3
