Precautions and limitations
The AIM system should be used by properly trained and qualified laboratory personnel.
Precautions should be taken against the dangers of microbial hazards. Good aseptic technique must be
observed when handling clinical and laboratory isolates and attaching Dosing Heads. For procedures and
protocol regarding isolate handling, consult your own laboratory guidelines and supervisory personnel.
The AIM system should not be used if there is evidence of damage or excessive wear to electrical
connections.
Studies were performed using Sensititre susceptibility plates only. The performance of the AIM system to
inoculate other 96-well MIC plates has not been established.
One major and one very major error occurred when reading S. aureus results on the Thermo Scientific
Sensititre AutoReader™ System and the Thermo Scientific Sensititre Vizion™ Digital MIC Viewing
System. When the AIM system is used to inoculate S. aureus for D Test, consider alternative inoculation
methods if inducible clindamycin resistance is suspected.
Major and very major errors have occurred when reading H. influenzae results on the Vizion system.
When the AIM system is used to inoculate H. influenzae, results obtained by reading on the Vizion
system should be confirmed with the mirrored viewer.
