Use a specific lubricant for tyres. Take care not to apply lubricant to the sensor (if any).
WARNING.
When using the bead pressing disc, never apply excessive pressure,
and never press hard enough to cause deformation of the tread
surface.
6- Once lubrication is complete, raise the bead pressing disc.
Then release the PT arm and move it to the retracted position.
7- Bring the tyre changer post to the working position.
Position the valve at 12 o'clock.
8- Block the mounting head on the rim edge.
When working with Run Flat tyres with reinforced sides, this operation may be very dif-
ficult. For this reason, do the following:
- bring the PT arm to a working position.
- place the bead breaker disc in an approximately 1 o'clock position in contact with the tyre.
- use the arm lowering control to lower the side of the tyre so that the head can be
placed in position (see Fig. N/4).
- bring the PT arm back to a rest position.
9- Start to turn the turntable and simultaneously lower the control lever (31, Fig. E)
of the head hook.
10- Once hooked on, continue turning until the valve is in line with the hook (see Fig.
N/5).
11- Push the control lever up (31, Fig. E) so that the head hook brings the tyre bead
above the rim edge (see Fig. N/6).
N.B.: If the tyre tends to re-seat the bead, place the bead pressing disc at approximately
180° to the head to push down the bead inside the rim well (see Fig. N/7).
If necessary, in addition to pushing down the tyre bead at 180° to the head, push it
down in other parts where it is seated to the rim to make it easier to lift the head hook.
For extremely "hard" tyres, the second PT arm can be used in this way:
- Fit the second fixed arm (BPT) on the PT in the 8 o'clock position and adjust the posi-
tion of the bead pressing disc, place the PT arm in the 4 o'clock position.
- Lower the PT trolley so that the entire tyre bead is at the same height as the well (see
Fig. N/8).
WARNING!
To avoid causing damage to the tyre, the whole bead must be placed
inside the well.
12- Bring the PT arms to a non-working position.
13- Use the space between the rim and the tyre to insert the bead guide lever (see Fig.
M/1) which is used to avoid damage to the tyre bead on the rim edge caused by high
tension that is created during the first phase of demounting.
14- Put the PT arms in a non-working position to completely clear the area above the
turntable.
15- Start turning the turntable until the first bead has been completely demounted.
