EXHAUST MUFFLER INSPECTION
WARNING
Engines generate heat when running.
Parts of the engine, particularly the
muffler, become extremely hot.
Touching these parts can cause serious
burns.
Combustible debris, leaves, grass, etc.
can ignite.
−
Let the exhaust pipe, cylinder, etc. cool
down before touching them.
−
Remove accumulated debris from
around the muffler and cylinder.
CONNECTING THE BATTERY (OPTIONAL)
(see fig. 8.4)
WARNING Make sure you do not connect the
battery with the reverse polarity, because this
could short out the charging system.
Note:
Use a 12V battery with a power
capacity of at least 18 Ah.
1. Connect the positive (+) cable to the starter
terminal (1).
2. Connect the negative (-) cable to the
installation screw on the engine or another
suitable point on the engine.
3. Connect the positive (+) cable to the positive
(+) pole on the battery.
4. Connect the negative (-) cable to the
negative (-) pole on the battery.
5. Apply suitable lubricant to the terminals and
cable connectors.
DRAINING THE FUEL FROM THE TANK
(see fig. 8.5)
Draining the fuel
1. Close the fuel shut-off valve. Put the fuel
valve lever (if equipped) in the OFF position.
2. Place a suitable container under the
carburettor (3) or use a funnel and hose.
3. Unscrew the drain screw (1).
4. Open the fuel shut-off valve. Move the fuel
valve lever to the ON position. Drain the
remaining fuel from the tank and the
carburettor.
5. Make sure you fit the O-ring seal when you
reinstall it (2).
EN
ADJUSTING THE CARBURETTOR
Never adjust the carburettor! The carburettor was
set at the factory to operate efficiently and under
most conditions. If you need to adjust it, contact
an authorised servicing facility.
WARNING The manufacturer of the equipment
that is powered by this engine specifies the
maximum operating revolutions. Do not exceed
these revolutions!
Your engine was configured at the factory for
operation at an altitude of less than 1500 m. If
necessary, your engine can be re-configured to
operate at an altitude of over 1500 m. Operating
an engine not correctly configured for a specific
altitude can increase its emissions, increase fuel
consumption, reduce power and cause
irreparable damage. Engines configured for
operation at a high altitude cannot be operated
under standard altitude conditions. A qualified
servicing facility should ensure that your engine
is correctly configured for your altitude.
9. STORAGE
CLEANING
If the engine has been operated, let it cool for at
least 30 minutes before cleaning.
Clean the exterior surface of the engine and
repair all damage to the paint and apply a thin
layer of oil to surfaces that could be subject to
corrosion.
WARNING
Spraying with a hose or washing with a
pressure washer could result in water
penetrating into the air filter and exhaust
muffler opening. Water in the air filter will
soak into the filter insert and water that
penetrates into the air filter or exhaust
muffler can enter the engine cylinder and
damage it.
