8.2 Performing the function check
Perform a function check every 6 months as described
below.
1.
Check whether one or more status indicators are
flashing when the lid is closed. The device is ready for
use when the green status indicator flashes.
2.
Remove the battery and check the expiry date. If the
battery has expired, replace it with a new one.
3.
Insert the battery and open the unit's cover. The
device is ready for use when the following points
apply.
– All status indicators and display fields come on
briefly.
– the green status indicator comes on permanently.
– The device starts to issue voice prompts.
4.
Check that the emergency kit is unopened and un-
damaged. If the emergency kit is opened or damaged,
or parts of it are missing, replace it with a new one.
5.
Check whether the electrode plug is properly plugged
in. If the electrode plug is not properly plugged in,
push it firmly into the connecting socket.
6.
Check whether the electrode plug, electrode leads
and the electrode pack are in perfect condition. If one
of the components is damaged, replace the electrode
pack with a new one.
7.
Check whether the shelf life of the electrodes has
expired. If this is the case, replace the electrodes with
new ones.
8.
Close the lid again and establish whether the device
switches to stand-by mode. The device is ready for use
when the voice prompts stop and the green status
indicator flashes.
9.
Perform a visual inspection of the device. Ensure that
the device has no external damage. If the device is
damaged, do not use it.
If you find faults or deviations from specified values on one
of the items mentioned, you may not use the device.
