7.4.2. Diaphragm diffuser
The diaphragm aerator is located in the tanks
B1 and B2, and provides for even distribution
of the air for the biological treatment of the
water.
The aerator is a wear part that
ages in line with the water quality.
The aerator must be replaced at
the latest every two years.
Checking the aerator
After the air pumps V1 and V2 have been
switched on, the carrier material in the tanks
B1 and B2 must move evenly. Small dead
spaces in the corners are not significant.
However, uniform agitation does not occur
during the run-in period.
The air bubbles should rise homogeneously
and evenly.
Replacing the aerator unit:
Before removing the
aerator, drain all water out
of the relevant tank.
1. Completely empty tank B1 via the
mechanical ball valve and tank B2 via the
electric ball valve VA1.2. (see
chapter 7.3.1)

2. So that no water continues to flow, also
open the electric ball valve VA1.1 on the
filter F1.
3. Undo the hose grommet and pull off the air
hose.
4. Undo the 4 screws of the aerator unit flange
and remove the aerator (attention: residual
water).
5. Clean the aerator unit or replace it if
necessary, and install in reverse order (re-
seal the thread of the fittings).
The screws of the flange
must be greased before
assembly.
