FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

The localisation and communication unit X-zone Com is designed for use in industrial environments. It
supplements the Dräger X-zone 5x00 gas detection system with Dräger X-am 5x00 (hereinafter re-
ferred to as X-zone 5x00).
When connected to an X-zone 5x00, X-zone Com regularly monitors X-zone 5x00 gas concentrations,
and records them and any alarm events in a cache, until the system transmits the data to the ORI
Mcloud Server or a user-specified e-mail address. If X-zone 5x00 is connected to other X-zone 5x00
devices (wireless or by cable), it will also transmit alarms. If the X-zone network is integrated into a
network (group), X-zone Com will instead metre, cache, and transmit the group's gas concentration
and alarm information instead of those of the X-zone 5x00.
X-zone Com can integrate position data in all X-zone 5x00 readings if GPS communication is possible.
It is also able to receive, reply to, and transmit status queries via short message service (text). In the
event of an alarm, it will send both e-mails and text messages.
Users are able to configure X-zone Com either via Bluetooth or via a serial interface by means of PC
software (hereinafter referred to as Manager Software).

INTENDED USE

X-zone Com may be operated in zone 1 and zone 2 explosive atmospheres (in accordance with
2G Ex ib [ia IIC Ga] [ib IIC] IIB T3/T4 Gb) if it is used with the Dräger X-zone 5x00 alarm amplifier. Any
other use or modification of the device without the manufacturer's written agreement shall be deemed
improper use and shall void the ATEX licence and the warranty.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for damages resulting from improper or unintended use, such use
being at the sole risk of the operator. The device may pose a risk if used improperly or for purposes
other than the intended purpose. Please render the device inoperative immediately if you have reason
to believe that safe operation is no longer possible.
Compliance with intended use also requires detailed knowledge of and adherence to the instructions
in this Operating Manual.
NOTE
Please carefully read the separate operating instructions for
Dräger X-zone 5x00 and the connected gas measuring de-
vice Dräger X-am 5x00, paying particular attention to the rel-
evant safety precautions.
