KNIVES, ART. NO. 6916000 AND 6917000, DESIGNED
FOR CIRCULAR HANDSAWS WITHOUT A RIVING KNIFE
INTENDED USE
The riving knives allow the MASTER cut 2200 to be used with circular handsaws
that have no riving knife. Riving knife 6916000 is designed for circular handsaws
with circular saw blades that have a maximum diameter of 159 mm and a cutting
width between 2.4 mm and 2.8 mm. Riving knife 6917000 is designed for operat-
ing circular handsaws with saw blades that have a diameter of min. 160 mm to
max. 200 mm, a cutting width between 2.4 mm and 2.8 mm and a maximum cut-
ting depth of 66 mm.
MOUNTING THE RIVING KNIVES (ART. NO. 6916000 AND 6917000)
The following section only describes the installation and function of the riving knife
with art. no. 6916000. The installation and function of the riving knife with art. no.
6917000 are identical.
Riving knife 6916000 includes the following components: (Fig. 7.1):
– 1x riving knife (for a max. circular saw blade diameter of 159 mm)
– 1x locating bolt with clamping sleeve (long version)
– 1x setting gauge
Riving knife 6917000 includes the following components: (Fig. 7.2):
– 1x riving knife (for a circular saw blade diameter of min. 160 mm to 200 mm)
– 1x locating bolt with clamping sleeve (short version)
– 1x setting gauge
Both riving knifes are delivered in pre-assembled condition.
Inserting the riving knife into the machine plate: Unscrew the front knurled nut
of the setting gauge halfway. Tighten the rear knurled nut (Fig. 7.3). With the
clamping sleeve loosely attached, push the locating bolt into the machine plate
(Fig. 7.4). Insert the riving knife into the two grooves of the locating bolt (Fig. 7.5).
Align the riving knife vertically and subsequently tighten the clamping sleeve
(Fig. 7.6). Turn over the machine plate and insert it into the cutout in the worktop
(Fig. 7.7).
Fastening and aligning the circular handsaw: Release the cutting depth lock on
the circular handsaw and retract the protective pendulum cover. Place the circular
handsaw on the gap insert, making sure that it is centred on the cutout in the gap
insert. Set the circular handsaw to the max. cutting depth and tighten the cutting
depth lock (Fig. 7.8).
Check that the circular saw blade rotates freely and check that the saw blade is
aligned parallel to the machine plate. The lateral parallel distance from the circular
saw blade to the outer edge of the machine blade should be approx. 103 mm
(Fig. 2.32), so that the saw blade is in line with the marking on the machine plate.
Aligning the circular saw blade to the riving knife: Release the clamping sleeve
of the locating bolt. Slide the riving knife towards the circular saw blade. The set-
ting gauge has to be pushed over two teeth of the circular saw blade, as shown.
Rotate the circular saw blade a little, if necessary. This ensures that the distance
between the circular saw blade and riving knife is min. 3 mm to max. 8 mm.
Tighten the front knurled nut (Fig. 7.9). In the process, the circular saw blade is
aligned together with the riving knife.
Now fix the circular handsaw in position on the machine plate (Fig. 7.10). Depend-
ing on the size of the base plate, different stops, guides and clamping claws are
used (Fig. 2.33 to Fig. 2.35).
Installing the machine plate with mounted circular handsaw: Turn over the
machine plate. Release the clamping sleeve of the locating bolt and release the
front knurled nut of the setting gauge (Fig. 7.11). Remove the riving knife and the
locating bolt (Fig. 7.12). Remove the gap insert (Fig. 7.13). Insert the machine
plate into the worktop and fasten it with the four screws (Fig. 7.14). Insert the gap
insert again (Fig. 7.15). Mount the locating bolt and riving knife again. Align the
riving knife so that the setting knife is positioned in the setting gauge again
(Fig. 7.16). Tighten the front knurled nut and subsequently tighten the locating bolt
(Fig. 7.17). Remove the setting gauge (Fig. 7.18).
Check that the circular saw blade is aligned centrally in relation to the riving knife
and that the distance between the circular saw blade and riving knife is min. 3 mm
to max. 8 mm. If this is not the case, re-align the circular handsaw and the riving
knife.
Cutting depth adjustment: If the cutting depth of the circular handsaw is
changed, the height of the riving knife must also be adjusted to guarantee the min.
3 mm to max. 8 mm safety distance to the circular handsaw blade. Start by loosen-
ing the riving knife using the Allen key. Set the desired cutting depth on the circular
handsaw and tighten the cutting depth lock again. Attach and position the setting
gauge together with the riving knife as described. After the adjustments are com-
plete, remove the setting gauge.
Vertical mitre cuts
Observe the other information on stationary saw operation in the
chapter "Operation".
The circular handsaw must be realigned for vertical mitre cuts.
(Fig. 7.7).
Fastening and aligning the circular handsaw: Set the desired angle for the cir-
cular handsaw (Fig. 7.19). Release the cutting depth lock on the circular handsaw
and retract the protective pendulum cover. Place the circular handsaw on the gap
insert, making sure that it is centred on the cutout in the gap insert. Set the circular
handsaw to the max. cutting depth and tighten the cutting depth lock (Fig. 7.21).
7.22). In the process, the circular saw blade is
aligned together with the riving knife.
Now fix the circular handsaw in position on the machine plate (Fig. 7.23). Depend-
ing on the size of the base plate, different stops, guides and clamping claws are
used (Fig. 2.33 to Fig. 2.35).
Installing the machine plate with mounted circular handsaw: Turn over the
machine plate. Release the clamping sleeve of the locating bolt and release the
front knurled nut of the setting gauge (Fig. 7.24). Remove the riving knife and the
locating bolt (Fig. 7.25). Remove the gap insert (Fig. 7.26). Insert the machine
plate into the worktop and fasten it with the four screws (Fig. 7.27). Insert the gap
insert again (Fig. 7.28). Mount the locating bolt and riving knife again. Align the
riving knife so that the setting knife is positioned in the setting gauge again
(Fig. 7.29). Tighten the front knurled nut and subsequently tighten the locating bolt
(Fig. 7.30). Remove the setting gauge (Fig. 7.31).
