7) Open the throttle slightly lifting the neu-
tral throttle lever upwards partially. You
may need to change the throttle opening
slightly depending on engine tempera-
ture.
NOTE:
8 As a starting point, lift the lever just until
701014
you feel resistance, then lift slightly more.
8 The operation of the neutral throttle lever is
possible only when the remote control
lever is in "N".
8) Pull out the choke knob completely.
After the engine starts, return the knob
to the original position.
NOTE:
8 It is not necessary to use the choke when
305026
the engine is warm.
8 If the choke knob is left pulled out after the
engine starts, the engine will stall.
9) Pull the starter handle slowly until you
feel resistance. Then, give a strong pull
straight out to crank and start the
engine.
NOTE:
8 When starting a cold engine, the engine
needs to be warmed up. Refer to "WARM-
209015
ING UP ENGINE" for details.
8 If the engine doesn't start on the first try,
repeat the procedure. If the engine fails to
start after 4 or 5 tries, open the throttle a
small amount (between 1/8 and 1/4) and
try again. If the engine still fails to start,
refer to "TROUBLESHOOTING" in Chap-
ter 5.
10) After the engine starts, do not let go of
the starter handle. Return it slowly to its
home position before releasing it.
