4- -a SAFETY GUARDS
DANGER: after carrying out any maintenance
operation on the baler, always refit and close
all the safety guards. The safety guards must
always be closed and locked when the baler is opera-
ting.
For safety reasons, the guards requiring frequent
D
access are equipped with special devices that
can be opened only by tools.
Immediately replace possible faulty safety
D
guards.
When the safety guards with decals need replac-
D
ing, make sure to order both the safety guard and
the corresponding safety decals.
The safety decal part number is placed on the
D
decal itself, or on this operator's manual.

TRANSPORT AND HANDLING
Should the machine be transported on a long route,
it can be loaded on lorries or railroad wagons. To this
purpose, refer to section 8, "Specifications and data".
These features and data can be used to check the
possibility of making the machine pass under tunnels
or in narrow paths. To lift the machine from the ground
to the plane to be loaded, if suitable laying ramps
aren't available, use cranes having suitable capacity
and fasten the machine to the suitable lifting points,
as described in fig. 31.
ATTENTION: before any lifting operation, ma-
ke sure the machine is completely empty.
A.
Loading by loading ramps. Connect the ma-
chine to a tractor, tow it on the ramps and move
it to the lorry or wagon, with extreme caution
and avoiding all sudden movements.
B.
Loading by a crane. Make sure the available
crane and hopper have the suitable capacity
to lift the machine. The fastening points for lift-
ing are well visible and are marked by suitable
stickers, see fig. 31. Lift the machine cautious-
ly and transfer it slowly, without sudden move-
ments, on the lorry or the railway wagon.
DANGER: the lifting and transport opera-
tions can be extremely dangerous if they
aren't carried out with the utmost care: mo-
ve away the bystanders, clear and limit the tran-
sfer area; check the integrity and suitability of the
available means; do not touch overhanging load
and remain at a safety distance; during transport,
the loads shouldn't be lifted for more than 20 cm
from the ground. Make sure that the operating
range is free and there is a sufficient "escape la-
ne", that is a free and safe area, to move there
quickly should the load fall suddenly.
ATTENTION: the surface where the ma-
chine is to be loaded must be perfectly
level, to prevent possible movements of
the load.
After transferring the machine on the lorry or wagon,
make sure it is locked in position. The wheels must
be locked by suitable wedges.
Tighten the machine to the plane, by tensioned ropes
or chains, suitable to the machine weight, to stop its
movement.
After the transport and before clearing all links, make
sure that the machine conditions and position do not
cause danger.
Remove the ropes and the wedges and carry out
the unloading procedure following the reverse
order of loading.

BALER
TRANSFER
ROADS
Before towing the baler on public roads, always con-
sider the following safety precautions:
check that the tractor braking system is effective
D
and suitable to brake the tractor/baler assembly.
Note: the baler has no individual braking sy-
stems.
Check that the tractor tow hook can bear the
D
max. vertical static load, operating on the baler
eyelet, of 350 kg.
