VII. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The LARYVOX

pure silicone for use with a shunt valve. The LARYVOX
used to transient seal a shunt valve to prevent fluid leakage through
the shunt valve until the shunt valve has been properly inspected
and replaced if necessary.

Insertion of the LARYVOX
Start use of the LARYVOX
lighting conditions so that the shunt valve is clearly visible. Then in-
sert the LARYVOX
Guide the tip of the insertion rod into the rear opening of the
LARYVOX
PLUG ③.
®
Fasten the safety strap to the insertion rod (④ / ⑤ a and b).
Hold the insertion rod with the safety strap facing downwards ⑥ and
carefully insert the LARYVOX
fixated correctly ⑦.
CAUTION!
Never force the LARYVOX
shunt valve. There is a risk that the shunt valve may be pushed
into the oesophagus.
Check the secure placement of the LARYVOX
pulling the safety strap ⑧.
Now loosen the safety strap from the insertion rod ⑨.
Slowly and carefully remove the insertion rod from the opening of the
LARYVOX
PLUG ⑩ while rotating it slightly.

CAUTION!
The insertion rod must be removed with special care to avoid
dislocation (displacement) / aspiration (inhalation) of the shunt
valve into the lungs.
Medical assistance must be sought immediately in the event
of aspiration.
If necessary, secure the safety strap with medical adhesive tape ⑪.

Remove the LARYVOX
lighting conditions so that the shunt valve and the sealing plug are
clearly visible. Then remove the LARYVOX
Carefully pull the safety strap to remove the LARYVOX
the shunt valve ⑫.
IX. CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
Clean the LARYVOX
Keep this in mind, your personal cleaning schedule, including ad-
ditional disinfection if required, must always be determined in con-
sultation with your doctor/physician and according to your individual
needs.
General cleaning may be insufficient to meet the special hygie-
ne requirements to prevent infections for patients with specific
problems (e.g. MRSA, ORSA etc.), who are subject to an increa-
sed danger of re-infection. We recommend chemical disinfec-
tion of the tubes according to the instructions provided below.
Please consult your doctor/physician.
CAUTION!
Cleaning agent and disinfectant residues on the product can
lead to irritations of the mucous membranes or other health
impairments.
1. Cleaning
Under no circumstances clean the LARYVOX
agents not approved by the manufacturer. Never use aggressive
household cleaning agents, highly concentrated alcohol or denture
cleaning agents.
