the EPS 205. Always keep the operating in-
structions in a safe place.
3. Important safety information
3.1
Mains voltages
Hazardous voltages can occur in both power
networks and electrical systems. There is a
risk of electric shock from contact with live
components or from flashover resulting from
damaged insulation.
Safety measures:
Only connect the EPS 205 to a properly grounded
connection.
Do not allow the three-phase AC connecting cable
to hang over the edge of the workbench and do not
route it over hot pipes or running fans.
Replace cables with damaged insulation.
The EPS 205 is not to be operated if the three-phase
AC connecting cable is damaged or following failure
of or damage to the EPS 205 before the EPS 205 has
been checked by qualified Customer service person-
nel.
If an extension cable is required for the three-phase
AC supply of the EPS 205, the cross-section of the
extension cable must be at least equal to that of the
connecting cable of the EPS 205. Extension cables
with an inadequate cross-section may be subject to
overheating. Route the extension cable such that
there is no risk of tripping over or pulling out the
three-phase AC connector.
Always unplug the three-phase AC connector when
the EPS 205 is not in use. Never tug on the three-
phase AC connecting cable to unplug the three-
phase AC connector. Always grasp hold of the three-
phase AC connector and then unplug it.
Inspect/check the electrical equipment every 2 years
in conjunction with the Testing department and
rectify any defects immediately.
Only use fuses of the specified rating.
Only perform assembly work with the EPS 205
switched off.

Danger of injury, danger of crushing
3.2.1
Transport, initial startup and shutting down
During transport or initial startup and shut-
ting down processes injuries and damage may
occur from dropped objects.
Safety measures:
Wear safety shoes.
Use protective equipment, e.g. gloves.
Allow the EPS 205 to cool down before transporta-
tion.
Wrap the three-phase AC connecting cable loosely
around the EPS 205 when putting the EPS 205 into
storage.
Load and transport test equipment and test speci-
mens only in accordance with the Operating Instruc-
tions.
Use suitable transport equipment and hoisting gear
with sufficient load-bearing capacity only.
Transport and operate the equipment only in accor-
dance with the operating instructions.
3.2.2
Clamping, connecting and testing the test
sample
When clamping and connecting the test
equipment and test sample injuries may oc-
cur as a consequence of dropped objects and
sharp edges.
Safety measures:
Wear safety shoes.
Use protective equipment, e.g. gloves.
Attach protective cover, e. g. protective hood for
drive coupling.
