The bands should be secured using stainless steel staples and should not be tied using knots
(this could mark the laundry). They should not be mounted taut but slightly flexible because
with the effect of heat, the band shrinks and may break quickly. It is essential not to stretch
them, as this would cause them to break prematurely.
4.4.
Extended shutdown and waxing (excluding chrome-plating
option)
To prevent cylinder corrosion, especially in the case of a prolonged stoppage (over 1 week),
the cylinder must be coated in paraffin; to do this, proceed as follows:
Machine stopped, cylinder slightly hot (between 110°C and 100°C in regulation or
cooling phase)
Raise the top panels.
Rotate the cylinder at reduced speed.
Coat the cylinder surface with paraffin wax in successive passes so as to coat the entire
cylinder surface area.
Then insert a flat item of laundry around the roller for the duration of the extended
shutdown.
Paraffin block reference: 12156317
When the machine is restarted after a prolonged stoppage, the paraffin evaporates naturally
at high temperature. However, it is preferable to pass a few worn flat cloths through before
starting normal production in order to remove all the paraffin.
4.5.
Feeler checking and cleaning
The machine has 2 feelers placed against the cylinder and located under the infeed table, in
which the 2 temperature sensors and the safety thermostat that are used to regulate and
secure the cylinder temperature are housed. The sensor position must be checked before each
start-up (machine cold) and they must be cleaned (lint) regularly (see section 6).
