Extraoral X-ray

The procedure is described using a PSP
Plus for Pano as an example.
Required accessories:
– PSP
– Plate protector matching the size of the phos-
phor storage plate
– X-ray cassette without intensifying screen, (see
"3.3 Optional items" or "8.4 Prepare the X-ray
cassette for an extraoral phosphor storage
plate")
Preparing the X-ray
ü The PSP has been cleaned.
ü The PSP is not damaged.
If using it for the first time or if it has been

stored for over a week: erase the PSP (see
"11.5 Erasing the imaging plate").
Slide the phosphor storage plate fully into the

plate protector. The black (inactive) side of the
PSP must be visible.

Place the plate protector into the X-ray cas-

sette. The foam side of the plate guide must
face in the direction of the cover of the X-ray
cassette.
Taking the X-ray image
Insert the X-ray cassette into the X-ray unit.

Make sure that the active side of the phosphor
storage plate faces the X-ray tube.
Set the exposure time and setting values on

the X-ray unit (see "8.5 X-ray unit settings").
Record the X-ray image.

The image data must be scanned within 30
minutes.
