Safety Functions

The electronic components continuously monitor the proper function of the de-
vice. Device malfunctions are indicated with audible warning signals, error mes-
sages, and/or the blocking of device functions. In case of error messages, the
display switches from the default display to the error display. A table listing a
summary of possible error and warning messages is provided in chapter 16 "Error
and Warning Messages".
6.1

Device Self-Test

After being switched on, the device performs a self-test of the sensors, the motor,
and electronic components. The following describes the messages for errors of
the individual modules or components.
The offset values are verified as part of the device check process that is executed
when the device is switched on. If an impermissible deviation or an error in the
pressure measurement electronic system is detected, the display alternates the
following indications:
Device error <-> Sensor error
3 warning signals can be heard.
Turn the device off and back on after approx. 10 seconds. If the error message is
displayed again, the device may not be used any longer. Make sure the device can
no longer be operated until a qualified service technician conducts the appropri-
ate tests and repairs.
In case of a motor drive malfunction, the display shows the following alternating
messages:
Device error <-> Motor error
5 warning signals can be heard. Turn the device off and back on after approx. 10
seconds. If the error message is displayed again, the device may not be used any
longer. Make sure the device can no longer be operated until a qualified service
technician conducts the appropriate tests and repairs. The Motor error warning
can also occur during the operation of the device due to a jamming roller wheel.
In case of an electronic component malfunction, the display shows the following
alternating messages:
Device error <-> Electronics error
2 warning signals can be heard. Turn the device off and back on after approx. 10
seconds. If the error message is displayed again, the device may not be used any
longer. Make sure the device can no longer be operated until a qualified service
technician conducts the appropriate tests and repairs.
In case of a malfunction of the buttons on the front foil, the display shows the fol-
lowing alternating messages:
Device error <-> Keyboard error
9 warning signals can be heard. Turn the device off and back on after approx. 10
seconds. If the error message is displayed again, the device may not be used any
longer. Make sure the device can no longer be operated until a qualified service
technician conducts the appropriate tests and repairs.
If a calibration error occurs, the display shows the following alternating messag-
es:
Device error <-> Calibration error
