Non-sterile tasks
1. Switch device on as described in chapter 5.3 "Switching On Device".
2. Open packaging of the Day-Use Cassette Tubing.
3. Insert the Day-Use Cassette Tubing.
4. Close the tube clamps. Connect the corresponding fluid bags (see chapter 5.5
"Connecting Fluid Bags").
5. Suspend fluid bags 0.7 to 1.0 m above the device.
6. Open packaging of the Patient-Use Tubing. Have the sterile personnel re-
move the Patient-Use Tubing. Keep the supplied protection cap in the sterile
package until the end of the surgery.
Sterile tasks
7. Remove and dispose the protection cap (sterile protector). Give the hygiene
connector (male) of the Patient-Use Tubing to the non-sterile nurse or medi-
cal personnel.
Non-sterile tasks
8. Hold the hygiene connector from the Day-Use Cassette Tubing at the provid-
ed handle, unscrew and dispose the protection cap (sterile protector).
Grasp the sterile male hygiene connector from the Patient-Use Tubing hand-
ed over by the sterile nurse without touching her, and pull the connector
carefully towards the pump if necessary.
Always comply with sterile precautions and do not touch the surface which
was covered by the protection cap before.
Connect the male hygiene connector of the Patient-Use Tubing with the
matching piece on the Day-Use Cassette Tubing by attaching both and screw
the male Patient-Use connector clockwise until both are fitted tightly.
CAUTION!
Make sure to connect tubes as indicated by the matching connectors.
Sterile tasks
9. Connect the Luer lock connector of the Patient-Use Tubing with the inflow
cannula.
Non-sterile tasks
10. Select joint type. Press the respective function field on the touch panel to se-
lect the corresponding type of joint.

Connecting Fluid Bags
Non-sterile tasks:
The tap spikes (see Fig. 5-9 "Hanging fluid bags", (2)) are used to connect the
tube sections with the fluid bags (1).
WARNING!
The device is only intended for use with flexible fluid containers. Do not use glass
containers as they might break. Fluid cannot flow quickly enough due to the vac-
uum being generated inside of the bottle. Risk of implosion.
WARNING!
Select an irrigation fluid suitable for the subsequent medical procedure.
The fluid bags are to be attached at a height (h) of 0.7 to 1.0 m (Fig. 5-9 "Hanging
fluid bags") (pump inflow at center of fluid fill level in bag).
