Only waste water containing fats and oils originating from plant and animal sources may be
discharged.
Harmful substances may not be discharged, for example:
Waste water containing faeces
■
Rainwater
■
Waste water containing mineral oils and fats
■
Waste water from wet-disposal/crushing plants
■
Waste water from abattoirs
■
Concentrated solidifying greases (e.g. fat used for deep-frying)
■
No biologically active substances, e.g. products containing enzymes for transforming
■
fats or for self-cleaning purposes may be used in the grease separator or in the feed
lines.
Detergents, washing-up liquid, cleaning agents, disinfectants and additives which can get into
waste water may not develop any stable emulsions and may not contain or release chlorine.
For more information on suitable detergents/washing up liquids please refer to the leaflets (in
German and English) published by the „Dishwashing Association in Hagen":
www.vgg-online.de.
NOTICE Stainless steel grease separators are to be used for average temperatures of more
than 60 ºC in a grease separator or in designated fire zones.
1.3 Planning Drainage Systems
Waste water in which a considerable portion of grease is present as inseparable (emulsified)
grease can only be treated effectively in grease separators according to the principle of
gravity and in compliance with specific conditions.
Waste water, for example from:
Dairies, cheese factories, abattoirs, and fish and meat processing plants
■
Food service facilities, for example kitchens in which only dishwashing operations are
■
carried out
Waste treatment plants
■
Planning is to provide for the separation of partial flows of waste water according to the
type, quantity and physical state of the substances in the waste water. This makes it possible
to optimally process partial flows of waste water and to properly dispose of the retained
substances. If it is not possible to avoid stable emulsions from developing in the waste
water, special waste water treatment plants will be necessary, for example ACO LipuFloc or
ACO BioJet.
