Information on safety notes and warnings
Safety notes and warnings warn of dangers and provide instructions for the safe use of the product. Failure to observe these
safety notes and warnings may result in personal injury or damage to property.
1.1.1
Safety notes
This document contains sections with safety notes which warn of dangers. The type of danger and the consequences of failing
to observe the safety note are included in every safety note.
1.1.2
Warnings
Warnings refer to steps of a task and warn of dangers which may result while the steps are executed. Warnings appear before
the steps.
1.2
Basic safety information
Before using this product, carefully read these instructions for use and those of the associated products.
These instructions for use are only included with the receiver. However, they also apply to the operation of the transmitter.
Strictly follow the instructions for use. The user must fully understand and strictly observe the instructions. Use the product
only for the purposes specified in the Intended Use section of this document. If the equipment is not used in the specified
manner, the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.
Do not dispose of the instructions for use. Ensure that they are retained and appropriately used by the product user.
Only trained and competent users are permitted to use this product.
Comply with all local and national rules and regulations associated with this product.
Only specialist, trained personnel are permitted to check, repair and maintain the product as described in these instructions
for use. Further maintenance work that is not detailed in these instructions for use must only be carried out by Dräger or
personnel qualified by Dräger. Dräger recommends a Dräger service contract for all maintenance activities.
Only use genuine Dräger spare parts and accessories when performing maintenance work, or the proper functioning of the
product may be impaired.
Do not use a faulty or incomplete product. Do not modify the product.
Notify Dräger in the event of any component fault or failure.
Substitution of components may impair the intrinsic safety of the product.
Only those components (junction boxes, cable bushings, cable glands, push-in connectors) which meet the requirements of
the applicable standards and which have a separate test certificate are approved for installation and mounting. The operating
conditions in the component test certificates must be complied with.
Cable gland and communication connector must not be removed from the gas warning system housing.
The external circuits intended to be connected to this product must be galvanically separated from mains supply or hazardous
live voltage by reinforced or double insulation. The external circuits must meet the requirements of SELV/PELV and Limited
Energy Circuit according to UL/IEC 61010-1 or NEC class 2, max. 35 V DC.
1.3
Use in areas subject to explosion hazards
Devices or components for use in hazardous areas which have been tested and approved according to national or
international explosion protection regulations may only be used under the conditions specified in the approval and with
consideration of the relevant legal regulations.
The devices or components may not be modified in any manner.
The use of faulty or incomplete parts is forbidden.
The appropriate regulations must be observed at all times when carrying out repairs on these devices or components.
1.4
Special conditions for safe use
Install the gas warning system so that it is adequately protected against incident light and reflections. Dräger recommends
using the protective cap included in delivery.
The gas warning system is explosion proof. The housing must not be opened.
The explosion proof joint must not be repaired.
Substition of components may impair intrinsic safety.
