The water supply is shut off inside the
handpiece.
The optical fibre plug is rotatable and can
be changed and sterilized. It is available in
various versions.
For technical reasons, the optical fibre
absorbs a part of the laser light, causing the
thin-walled tube to heat up. This is true in
particular for high frequencies and high
pulse energies. To protect the patients the
tubes are surrounded by a silicone sheath.
By operating the foot switch in position 2, it
is also possible to cool the optical fibre plug

efficiently by an air stream. Particularly at

high powers, the person carrying out the
treatment should make use of this. In case of
doubt, the person performing the treatment
should ascertain the efficiency of the heat
protection measures prior to the treatment.
