ATTENTION
• • • • • Clean and lubricate the chain, whenever possible,
after riding the motorcycle under rain or in terrain
with excessive dust, mud or sand.
• • • • • The drive chain is fitted with O-rings between the
link plates. These O-rings retain grease inside the
chain to improve its service life. However, special
precautions must be taken when adjusting,
lubricating, washing and replacing the chain.
• • • • • If the chain is excessively dirty, it should be
removed and cleaned before lubrication. For your
own safety, we recommend that this service be
performed by an authorized Honda dealer.

Drive Chain Slider

(Refer to "Maintenance Precautions" on page 42.)
Check the chain slider (1) for wear. The chain slider
must be replaced if it is worn to the bottom of the
cutout (2) or wear limit (3).
Wear limit: 4 mm (0.2 in)
For replacement, see your Honda dealer.
