6. Check that the seal washer is in good condition.
Install the spark plug in by hand to prevent cross-
threading until it touches the cylinder head. Tighten
a new spark plug 1/2 turn and 1/8 – 1/4 turn for a
used spark plug with the spark plug wrench. Do not
tighten it excessively.
7. Reinstall the spark plug cap.
ATTENTION
• • • • • The spark plug must be securely tightened. An
improperly tightened plug can become very hot
and possibly damage the engine.
• • • • • Never use a spark plug with an improper heat
range. Severe engine damage could result.

Throttle

1. Check for smooth rotation of the throttle grip from
the fully open to the fully closed position, in all
steering positions.
2. Measure the throttle grip free play at the throttle
grip flange. The standard free play should be
approximately 2 – 6 mm (0.078 – 0.236 in).
To adjust, loosen the lock nut (1) and turn the adjuster
(2) to the desired direction to increase or decrease the
play.
Retighten the lock nut and check the throttle grip free
play.
