19) Check the modulation automatic operation turning the switch
to AUT - or - MAN to "AUT" and the switch MIN - or - MAX to
"O". In this way the modulation is exclusively adjusted by the
electronic regulator controlled by the boiler probe, or by the 2nd
stage thermostat or pressure switch control in case the burner
is of the a two-stage progressive type.
Usually it is not necessary to act on the modulation
i
electronic regulator internal settings. To customise
them please consult the QUICK cTRON REGULATOR
GUIDE 08 supplied with the system.
20) Check the flame detector efficiency. The flame detecting UV
photocell must be able to trigger upon system operation if the
flame turns off (this check must be carried out after at least
one minute from the ignition. The burner must shut down and
remain in that condition when, upon ignition and during the time
preset by the equipment, the flame is not ignited. The shutdown
condition leads to an immediate fuel shut-off, the system
stops and the shutdown warning light comes on.
To check the UV photocell and shutdown, proceed as follows:
a) start the burner.
b) After at least one minute from ignition remove the UV photocell
from its seat and simulate a flame failure by covering it with
a dark cloth. The burner flame must turn off, the equipment
must repeat the ignition phase from the beginning and shut
down as soon as the flame turns on.
c) The equipment can only be released manually by pressing
the release button. The burner shutdown efficiency test must
be performed at least twice.
21) Check the efficiency of the boiler pressure switches or
thermostats (they should shut down the burner when triggered).

METHANE IGNITION AND REGULATION

1) It is necessary to bleed the air from the gas pipes to the burner.
To do this, open the union on the pipe near the burner and then
slightly open the gas on/off cock(s). When you smell gas, close
the cock and restore the burner connection to the pipe. Then
open the gas shut-off cock again.
2) Check that there is water in the boiler and that the gate valves
on the system are open.
3) Make sure that the products of combustion can be released
freely (boiler gate valve and stack open).
4) Check that the voltage of the electric line the equipment must
be connected to, complies with the manufacturer prescriptions,
and that the motor electric connections are properly set for the
available voltage. Also check that all electric connections made
on-site are performed correctly as shown in our wiring diagram.
5) Make sure that the combustion head is long enough to penetrate
the furnace as specified by the boiler manufacturer. Check
that the air regulation device on the combustion head is in the
appropriate position for supplying the required amount of fuel
(the passage of air between disc and head must be closed off
significantly if a small amount of fuel is supplied, and opened
up if the fuel supply is abundant). Refer to the chapter "Air
regulation on the combustion head".
6) Fit a pressure gauge of appropriate scale to the pressure intake
on the gas pressure switch (if the amount of pressure to be used
allows it, we recommend to use a water column instrument; do
not use instruments with indicator hands for low pressures).
7) Open the regulator integrated in the ignition (pilot) flame valve
as necessary. If the burner is already working with diesel,
do not change the position of the air gate, but adjust the
quantity of gas to the air already set for the diesel.
If, otherwise, the burner is working with gas only, check the
position of the combustion air adjustment gate and correct it, if
necessary, by acting on the adjustment disc screws.
8) Remove the protection cover of the rotating disc on the fuel/air
output adjustment servomotor, to reach the fuel and combustion
air adjustment screws.
9) With burner switch to "O" and master switch turned on, manually
close the remote control and check that the motor revolves in
the correct direction. If necessary, change the position of the
two cables in the line that feeds the motor in order to invert the
direction of revolution.
10) T h e n e n a b l e t h e c o n t r o l p a n e l s w i t c h a n d

(minimum) and MAN (manual). This powers on the control
device, and the programmer turns on the burner as described
in the chapter "Operation description".
The pre-ventilation is carried out with open air,
i
then the gas/air output adjustment servomotor is
activated and performs the complete opening stroke
up to the "maximum" output. Afterwards the fuel/
air adjustment servomotor returns to the original
position (minimum output). Only when the modulation
is returned to the "minimum" position, the equipment
continues its ignition process by activating the
transformer and the ignition pilot gas valves.
During the pre-ventilation phase make sure that the air
pressure switch changes over (from closed position
without pressure detection to closed position with air
pressure detection). If the air pressure switch does
not detect enough pressure, it inhibits the transformer
activation as well as the ignition pilot gas valve opening
bringing the equipment in the "shutdown" condition.
We remind you that a few "shutdowns" during this first
start-up phase are to be considered normal, since the
valve train pipe can still contain some air, which must
be bled to obtain a stable flame. Press the "release"
button to resume the burner operation.
