Proof test and adjustment
CAUTION
Triggering alerts by test gas
Applied test gas may trigger alerts.
► Make sure that test gas is no longer applied after calibration.
Operating resources:
Test gas cylinder with pressure regulator, for corrosive gases with stainless
steel pressure regulator
Validation cap with hose nozzles (order no. 37 17 561)
Hose, type according to gas property (e.g., FKM hose order no. 12 03 150)
Prepare the test gas supply:
1. Remove the weather cap from the measuring cell and attach the validation
cap.
2. Connect the validation cap (Fig. H 1) and test gas cylinder (Fig. H 3) to the
hose (Fig. H 2).
3. Connect a hose to the second connection of the validation cap to discharge
the test gas.
11.3
Performing the proof test
Prerequisite:
Bypass the connected safety devices to prevent unwanted alarms or
shutdown.
Test gas supply prepared.
1. Start the test by opening the pressure regulator on the test gas cylinder.
Flow rate with test gas supply 0.5 - 1.0 L/min.
If the response time is to be tested in addition to the measurement accuracy,
the recommended flow rate is 1.0 L/min.
2. After completing the test, turn off the gas flow, remove the validation cap,
and put the weather cap back on the measuring cell (arrow on the cap must
point upwards!) (Fig. D).

11.4
Performing zero adjustment
Prerequisites:
Sensor warm-up phases completed (see "Commissioning", page 46).
The date and time are set correctly (check with PolySoft).
The test gas supply has been prepared.
A connection between the gas warning device and PolySoft has been
established.
Performing zero adjustment:
1. Start zero adjustment in PolySoft.
®
 WirelessHART
interface transmits the reading status "Bad", (substatus
"Maintenance mode active") and the special state "Adjustment".
2. Follow the instructions of the assistant in PolySoft.
Test gas flow rate: 0.5 to 1.0 L/min.
3. After completing the zero adjustment, turn off the gas flow, remove the test
cap and put the weather protection cap back on the measuring cell (arrow
on the cap must point upwards!) (figure D).
11.5
Performing the span adjustment
Prerequisites:
Zero adjustment has been carried out. (Zero adjustment is not older than
24 hours).
The test gas supply has been prepared.
A connection between the gas warning device and PolySoft has been
established.
Performing the span adjustment:
1. Start and confirm span adjustment in PolySoft.
®
 WirelessHART
interface transmits the reading status "Bad", (substatus
"Maintenance mode active") and the special state "Adjustment".
2. Follow the instructions of the assistant in PolySoft.
Test gas flow rate: 0.5 to 1.0 L/min.
3. After completing the span adjustment, turn off the gas flow, remove the test
cap and put the weather protection cap back on the measuring cell (arrow
on the cap must point upwards!) (figure D).
