c. Put the protective cap (Fig. A 3) on the battery contacts in the housing.
6. Close the gas detector:
a. Place the housing cover in the final position (Dräger logo horizontal).
b. Turn the housing cover under slight pressure approx. 20°
counterclockwise until the housing cover rests on the sealing ring on the
housing.
c. Press the housing cover forcefully and evenly onto the sealing ring.
d. Slowly turn the housing cover approx. 20° clockwise to the stop in the
end position.
e. Screw in the locking screw (Fig. A 11) until unscrewing the housing
cover is prevented.

Set up battery operation
WARNING
Risk of explosion!
Opening the gas detector in a potentially explosive dust atmosphere or opening
the battery box in a hazardous area can cause an explosion.
► Do not open the gas detector in a potentially explosive dust atmosphere or
open the battery box in a hazardous area. Alternatively, declassify the
potentially explosive dust atmosphere area and the hazardous area.
The transport, insertion and replacement of the battery box in potentially
explosive gas atmospheres is permitted.
In a dust explosion hazardous area, the short-term transport of the battery box
is permissible. Inserting or changing the battery box in a potentially explosive
dust atmosphere is only permitted with declassification.
Replacing the battery pack is also explained in PolySoft .
6.2.1
Inserting battery pack
NOTICE
Incorrect calculation of the remaining charge state!
► When inserting or changing the battery pack, use only new battery packs.
Exception: If the used battery pack is removed, e.g., during maintenance,
the same may be reinserted.

Insert battery pack:
1. Loosen the screw (Fig. C 1).
2. Remove the lid (Fig. C 2) of the battery box.
3. When changing the battery pack, disconnect the cable connector (Fig. C 5)
and remove the empty battery pack from the battery box.
WARNING
Explosion hazard!
If non-original Dräger battery packs are used, explosions may occur.
► Only use Dräger LBT 05** (see "Accessories and spare parts", page 63)
battery pack
4. Open the seal on the new battery pack and connect the cable plug of the
battery pack (Fig. C 6).
The cable plug of the battery pack must engage when plugged in.
5. Insert the battery pack into the battery box.
WARNING
Explosion hazard!
A damaged cable can lead to a short circuit in the battery box.
► When closing the battery box, pay attention to the cable to avoid damage.
6. Reinstall the lid of the battery box.
7. Tighten screw (Fig. C 1).
6.2.2
Removing the battery box
Remove the battery box:
1. Open the gas detector:
a. Loosen the locking screw (Fig. A 11).
b. Turn the housing cover (Fig. A 1) approx. 20° counterclockwise and
remove it.
2. Pull out the battery box (Fig. A 2).
6.2.3
Installing the battery box
Install the battery box:
1. Connect grounding cable to fastening screw for potential equalization
(Fig. A 14).
