Operation
Burst message (Burst Message) 1 immediately sends information from
command (Command) 9 after the gas reading (Primary Value [PV]) at variable
slot (Variable Slot) 0 has exceeded the trigger threshold (Trigger Level) with the
unit %LEL. The following burst messages 1 are sent at the shortest possible
update intervals (Update Periods). In addition, gas readings are sent
continuously, but with a longer update interval, even ones below the trigger
threshold.
You can select preconfigured burst messages with different trigger
thresholds via PolySoft.
Burst message (Burst Message) 2 sends information (mainly errors and
warnings) from command (Command) 48 when there is a change (On-Change)
and periodically at longer time intervals.
Burst message (Burst Message) 3 is disabled.
9.3
Configuration for long battery life
You can select burst mode configurations developed by Dräger via PolySoft.
These configurations are for maximum battery life and applications that do not
require immediate alerting, such as process optimization.
These configurations are identical to those described in chapter 9.2 with the
difference that the update intervals for burst message 1 and 2 are longer.
9.4
Configuration for repeaters
The configuration can be adjusted via PolySoft.
Using this configuration has the following effects:
Burst message (Burst Message) 1 sends information from command
(Command) 48 if there is a change (On-Change) and periodically at longer
intervals.
Burst message (Burst Message) 2 is deactivated.
Burst message (Burst Message) 3 is deactivated.

Operation
10.1
Special states
In a special state, correct measurement or alarm activation is not guaranteed.
Special states are as follows:
Gas concentration outside measuring range
Error
Calibration
Bump test
Warm-up phase
Maintenance mode
Special states are displayed in PolySoft.
10.2
Exiting special states
1. Identify the malfunction:
a. Determine device variable status via command 9.
b. Determine device status via command 48.
c. Check device status with PolySoft.
2. Start troubleshooting (see "Troubleshooting", page 51) or follow corrective
measures as prompted by PolySoft.
Errors and warnings are non-latching. If error or warning conditions are
resolved, the respective special state is also no longer transmitted.

Proof test and adjustment
®
The Polytron
6700 IR WL with infrared sensor is a long-term stable gas
detector. Thus, readjustment after delivery is normally only necessary every
four to five years. However, Dräger recommends that the response time and
measurement accuracy of the device be checked once a year by exposing it to
test gas. This test can optionally also be carried out as a bump test with
PolySoft. An adjustment is always carried out with PolySoft.
Take into account that the device is set to maintenance mode during the bump
test, the measured value is not transmitted and therefore the signal chain is not
tested.
