You can set up measured value updates (update interval, maximum update
interval (Maximum Update Period)) and timeout times for some WirelessHART
gateways via the web interface.

Burst Mode
WARNING
Mortal danger!
Burst mode configurations (Burst Mode Configurations) have a major influence
on the transmission of the gas reading to the gateway.
Incorrect configuration will result in critical gas concentrations not being
detected or being detected with a long time delay.
► Check parameters at the gateway.
WARNING
Mortal danger!
Dräger has no control over the update interval (Update Period) and the
maximum update interval (Maximum Update Period)).
Longer update periods will lead to a delay in the time the alarm is activated.
► Check parameters at the gateway and ensure that they are not changed
unintentionally.
WARNING
Mortal danger!
When configuring the gas detector without integration into the WirelessHART
network (offline), it is not guaranteed that the gateway will accept the desired
times of the update interval and the maximum update interval.
► Check burst mode configuration as well as update period and maximum
update period at the gateway.
The gas warning device has client status in a client-server relationship.
Therefore, the gas warning device must not send a gas reading (Primary Value
[PV]) (or other information) without being prompted to do so by the client. Burst
mode (Burst Mode), in contrast, is a way for the gas warning device to send
information without being prompted. The gas warning device allows all
FieldComm Group, Inc. approved configurations. However, these configurations
may not lead to the alarm being activated quickly and a gas reading being
obtained when a defined gas concentration is exceeded.

You can configure three different burst messages (Burst Messages) with the
gas warning device.
Dräger recommends using the factory configuration or a burst mode
configuration optimized by Dräger for various scopes.
The configurations can be changed according to the requirements. If in doubt,
contact Dräger.
Various configurations of burst messages are described below. Select these via
PolySoft on the corresponding tab for burst mode configuration.
The pre-configured burst messages are .bmcf files and can be edited with a
text editor and re-read by PolySoft.
Sending information affects the battery runtime. Sending burst messages
too frequently may result in shortened battery runtime.
9.1
Standard configurations
Burst message (Burst Message) 1: Variables from command (Command) 9 with
gas reading (Primary Value [PV]) in variable slot (Variable Slot) 0 are sent
continuously (Continuous).
Burst message (Burst Message) 2: Information from command (Command) 48
(mainly errors and warnings) is sent when a change occurs (On-Change) and
periodically at longer time intervals.
Burst message (Burst Message) 3: disabled.
To use the default burst mode configurations without resetting the gas
warning device to factory default settings, use PolySoft to select the appropriate
configuration.
9.2
Configuration for timely alerts
You can select burst mode configurations developed by Dräger via PolySoft.
These configurations are designed for timely alerts and consequently for
security applications such as plant protection.
Using one of these configurations has the following effects:
