6.5 Testing the firing chamber temperature
(with silver calibration set "silver sample manual", REF D03 532 803)
The firing chamber temperature is precisely set in the factory. Should checking the firing chamber temperature become necessary for any
reason, please proceed as follows:
Required items:
• 1 Dentsply silver sample carrier
• 1 piece of silver wire – diameter: 0.3 mm, length: 37 mm
Procedure:
• Allow furnace to heat through for approx. 1 hour at 600 °C (1112 °F).
• Place silver wire into the Dentsply silver sample carrier.
• Reset calibration offset (see section 4.5.2.1).
The following data are saved as special programs under "silver sample", program number 457:
Preheating temperature
650 °C (1202 °F)
Predrying

Drying

1.
Open firing chamber and place sample carrier with silver wire centrally onto the firing platform.
2. Start test program "Silver wire calibration".
3.
If after completion of the program the silver wire has started to melt along its upper third, i.e. a bead has formed on the wire surface, then
the temperature is correct (with an accu racy of ± 2 °C) (35,6 °F).
4.
If the silver wire surface has not started to melt, then the firing chamber temperature is too low. In this case, repeat the test program – each
time with a temperature increase of 3 °C (37,4 °F) – until the required melting effect on the surface of the silver
wire is achieved.
5.
If the silver wire has melted altogether, then the firing chamber temperature is too high. In this case, repeat the test
program – each time with a new length of silver wire and a temperature reduction of 3 °C (37,4 °F) – until the required melt effect on the
surface of the silver wire is achieved.
6.
After you have found the correct melting temperature, press the sensor button "Silver". The temperature correction is
taken over as "Calibration offset".
The correction of the firing chamber temperature is completed.
