6.16 Smart Media Card
(Smart Media Card REF 54 6023 0100)
(Main menu section 4.5)
Data are backed up on a Smart Media Card (see Figure 36 and 37). This card is a
dedicated storage medium. The cards come in two types:
• Cards for an operating voltage of +5 V, characterized by its left upper corner being cut off.
• Cards for an operating voltage of +3.3 V, characterized by its right upper corner being cut off
(see Figure 26). In addition, this card type is usually labelled with the letters "ID".
Either card at any capacity can be used for the Multimat 2 unit. Both types of cards
feature a write-protection field. If this field is covered by an adhesive conductive metal foil, the
Smart Media Card will be write-protected (see Figure 37).
Insert the Smart Media Card into the card reader with the medal surface facing back (outward,
toward you) (see Figure 38).
To remove the card, press the eject button (see Figure 39).
Using the Smart Media Card function, all or individual functions of the Multimat2 Touch can
be saved to the Smart Media Card and restored from the Smart Media Card to the Multimat2
Touch. The Smart Media Card, a dynamic storage medium, can be used
to save several hundred individual programs. This is particularly useful for additional
program backup.
