1. Working area

Inspect the area where the equipment will be
 
used, and remove all pebbles, pieces of wood,
wires, bones, glass, toys and other foreign
objects that may be picked and thrown by
the blades. Besides damaging the blades,
they may cause severe injuries to people or
animals when thrown.
Keep children and spectators out of the
 
mowing area. When the equipment is being
used, all people, specially children, shall
remain at a safe distance from the working
area.
Remember that the operator or user is
 
responsible for any accident or danger
involving third parties or their properties.

2. Personal safety

Avoid placing your hands or feet either near
 
the rotating parts or under the machine.
Always keep away from the engine exhaust
pipe.
Never carry passengers on the tractor.
 
Do not allow people who are not familiar
 
with the tractor to use it. The equipment may
become dangerous in the hands of people
who are unfamiliar with its operation.
Be aware of what is going on, and use
 
common sense when operating the tractor. Do
not operate the machine when you are tired,
distracted or under the influence of drugs
or alcohol. A little distraction may result in
serious injury risk.
Always wear safety equipment. Wear safety
 
glasses, gloves, proper shoes and earplugs
to increase safety and reduce the risk of
accidents.
Dress accordingly. Do not wear loose clothing
 
or jewelry as they can get caught by moving
parts of the equipment.
Statistics indicate that operators, age 60
 
and above, are more likely to get involved
in riding mower-related accidents. These
operators should evaluate their ability to
operate the riding mower safely enough to
protect them selves and others from severe
injury.
Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, pebbles and
 
other hidden objects. Uneven terrain could
overturn the machine. Tall grass can hide
obstacles.
Never fix or repair with the engine running.
 
Danger!
Whenever cleaning or servicing, make sure
the equipment is shut off and the blades have
completely stopped.

3. Children

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not
alert to the presence of children. Children are
often attracted to the machine and the mowing
activity. Never assume that children will remain
where you last saw them.

mowing area. When the equipment is being
used, all people, specially children, shall
remain at a safe distance from the working
area.
Before and when backing, look behind and
 
down for small children.
Never allow children to operate the machine.
