Sound formats and sound effects (DSP)

RDS (Radio Digital System)

RDS
RDS is a system which carries
information from FM station.
This is shown in the radio
display.
This could e. g. be information
about the programme type
("Sport", "News", "Classical"
etc.) or the current piece of
music, the performer, etc.
GB-38
When using the radio you can choose between various sound formats and
programmes for sound management.

Sound formats

The available sound formats are:
2.1 Stereo: for stereo rendition with a subwoofer connected
Stereo: for stereo rendition
Sound effects
Digital Sound Processing (DSP) makes the following sound effects
available for the radio:
"Rock": Optimised for rock music
"Pop": Optimised for pop music
"Classic": Optimised for classical music
"Jazz": Optimised for jazz music
"Effect 1", "Effect 2" and "Effect 3": further sound effects
Press the SOUND (or on the unit) SOUND FIELD button, to call up the
sound formats/sound effects in sequence. The names are displayed for
a few seconds and then disappear.
Your unit can receive RDS signals.
There is no need to activate the RDS function yourself; the information is
displayed for every station which transmits RDS information.
Please note that the content and type of information transmitted
depends on the radio station. A weak station can impede RDS
functions.

PTY search function

An important function of the RDS system is the automatic search for
stations with certain specialities (PTY – Programme type).
The PTY search function can be used only with stations which have
been stored using the AUTO MEM function (see "Store stations
automatically – AUTO MEM", p. 37).
Select the FM frequency band and if necessary press AUTO MEM , to
store the RDS stations automatically.
Press the PTY -button. If a station with RDS function has been selected,
the programme type is displayed. If no such station is available, NONE
appears.
To select another programme type, press the button STATION
. Each time you press the button, you jump one programme type
further.
Press the PTY button, and the selected programme type is sought.
When you have found your desired programme type, press ENTER .
You can leave the PTY function by pressing STOP or by selecting
another operating mode (button FUNCTION ).
