Installation
General installation requirements
Compression spring
The QST nutrunners are delivered with two springs. The
strong spring is built in the front part.
Clamping
No clamping is allowed on the transducer, the gear unit or
the motor unit. Clamping on these areas will interfere with
the transducer.
Motor connector
The motor connector is rotatable ± 150 degrees along two
axes.
Handling
Preventing ESD problems
The components inside the tool and controller are sensitive to
electrostatic discharge. To avoid future malfunction, make
sure that service and maintenance is carried out in an ESD
approved work environment. The figure below shows an ex-
ample of an appropriate service work station.

Maintenance
Lubricants
All gears and rotating parts shall be greased with LUBRA K
HS (Ordering No. 4230 1480 00). In the US, the same lubri-
cant is known as Courier. (Data sheet and other details can be
ordered from Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB.
Under normal conditions, with motor temperatures below
80C, a life cycle of 4 years or 2 million cycles is expected.
If a different lubricant is being used a service interval of less
than 2 years, or 1million cycles is more likely.
To ensure maximum life length of the equipment, make sure
to service all mechanical parts once a year by authorized ser-
vice staff. Make sure to calibrate Torque transducers at regu-
lar intervals according to your internal quality regulations,
but at least once a year.
Overhaul
Service must only be carried out by qualified personnel who
have access to the Service instruction and/or have been
trained for service on QST nutrunners.
The electric motor is a sealed unit and may under no circum-
stances be opened by anyone else than Atlas Copco Indus-
trial Technique AB!
If the electric motor is defect or in need of service, the com-
plete motor unit should be returned to Atlas Copco for ex-
change.
Motors which have been opened by anyone else than Atlas
Copco Industrial Technique AB will not be serviced.
