PATCHWORK - DOCORATIVE JOINING OF MATERIALS

For additional decorative purposes, use different kind of materials.
1.
Place two pieces of fabric right sides together and sew a basting stitch.
2. Press the seam open.
3. Place fabric right side up and stitch with the seam line in the center of the foot.
Stitches should fall on both sides of the seam line.

APPLIQUE

1. Position the applique on fabric with glue,
fusible iron on stabilizer or basting stitches.
2. Sew along the edge of the applique. Align
the straight part of the stitch with the
edge of the applique to give this project a
handmade appearance.
3. When pivoting corners, lower the needle in the right side of the stitch. Raise the
presser foot and use the needle to pivot and turn the fabric.

LADDER STITCH

The Ladder stitch is primarily used for drawn
thread hemstitching. It can also be used for
sewing over thin tape, couching over narrow
ribbon, yarn or elastic.
