To adjust the height of the upper cuff:
Remove the calf pad from the plastic cuff (it is fixed to the
plastic part with Velcro), release and remove the screws,
place the calf pad back in fig. 3
- Wear your usual climbing boot, place your foot on the foot rest
stirrup and securely fasten the lower straps system.
- Now slide the upper cuff up or down along the leg iron shank,
until the upper edge of the cuff lies 5 cm (2 in) below the knee.
Mark the designated height.
Remove the climber from the leg, remove the calf pad, fix the
upper cuff to the leg iron shank with the 2 new spare screws
provided in the package. Screws must be tightened with a 4
Nm (35 lb-in) torque. Put the calf pad back in place.
- To check the adjustment, bend knee in a 90° angle. The cuff
needs to be as high as possible on the shin, without interfering
with the bending movement of the leg, specifically on the back
of the knee. fig. 2
ATTENTION! Screws are provided with thread locking adhesive.
Proper fastening of the screw will be ensured only when the
screw is used the first time. If screws are replaced, then thread
locking adhesive (such as Loctite
be used. Use only EDELRID replacement leg iron screws.
To adjust the length of the upper straps:
The product is supplied with the webbing in the middle adjust-
ment.
The length for each of 2 straps of the cuff can be adjusted in
three different position.
- Remove the calf pad from the cuff.
- Thread out the straps from the slot on the rear side of the cuff,
and thread it in again in the designated slot. Fig. 4
This configuration will allow use of the straps within in the ap-
propriate range, between the minimum and the maximum
overlap allowed.

To adjust the lower strap system:
The lower rear strap is meant to be adjusted only to fit the boot
size, not as a tightening system. Therefore, it should be adjusted
only when changing boots.
The adjustment of the rear strap should be made so the D-ring
of the lower biding lies almost vertical to the terminal part of
the leg iron stirrup. Fig. 5
To tighten the lower strapsystem in daily use only the front
strap.
The height of the lower strap system can be adjusted too, de-
pending on footwear. To adjust the height, slide the lower web-
bing attached to the D-ring as shown in the picture. Fig 6
Adjust the height to have it in the most comfortable position.
This adjustment will influence the fastening pressure of the
boot on the leg iron.
How to wear the climber correctly:
- Notice: pay close attention to the Left and Right indication on
the gaff. Left and right is marked on each gaff on the calf pad
upper part, so it is visible while wearing. Leg iron shank should
be on the inner part of the legs.
- On level ground and in a balanced positon place the foot on
the foot rest.
- Securely fasten the cuff with both straps.
- Securely fasten the lower straps system.
- Make sure that all the Velcro parts are well secured and no
flap of Velcro is loose (left unfastened). Fig 7
The "maximum" and "minimum" overlap labels on the Velcro
straps indicate the max and min adjustment allowed. It is im-
portant to follow this indication, as neglect of this rule could
lead to fatal accidents.
