4. Central Units and Sound Source Input Devices
R
The central unit is always comprised of two elements: a power
supply unit and a sound input and control unit. Both elements
can be assembled into trim and casing 194x4 or 194x5.
R
Both can be assembled anywhere in the system but it is
recommended that they be installed as close as possible to the
sound source equipment.
R
There are three different ways to connect an external sound
source to the sound input and control unit:
ā
Preferably use the LINE OUT of the
sound system used as the external
sound source. This output provides a
constant signal which is independent of
the system's volume control.
ā
In systems having a TAPE output (Hi-Fi
systems, etc.) the sound input can be
interspersed between the tape recorder
and the sound system's amplifier.
Connect to the REC OUT output.
ā
In systems with no LINE OUT or REC
OUT (
discman, MP3, iPod, ...
headphone output can be used.
Because the system's output volume
controls the headphone output, adjust
the headphone volume and the LEVEL
of the central unit to obtain an optimal
signal level.
R
Connection of an external sound source to the remote control
socket allows on/off switching to be automatic. Thus it will only
switch on when any control unit in the installation is activated
and it will switch off when all the control units are off.

5. The 90 Series

R
All the 90 Series systems are one channel. Sound source input and control unit model 091x1 are used together with power supply 11297
(see diagram e1.1.)
R
The control units available are models 092x2 for stereo systems and model 092x1 for mono systems.

6. The New 100 Series

R
The New 100 Series two-channel installations consist of sound source input and control unit models 31191 or 31193 (see diagram e2.1,
e2.2 and e2.3). The four-channel installations use model 31192 (see diagram e2.4).
R
All New 100 Series two-channel installations are stereo. For mono installations switch selector to "MONO" (selector is
located on the back of the unit).
R
In systems with an FM tuner in the central unit (model 31193) the tuner signal is distributed as channel 2 via terminals 25 and 26. The
central unit FM tuner can be heard at any control unit (except model 32196) on channel 2 (see diagram e2.2 and e2.3).
R
To change central unit station tuned (only stations on memory) from a control unit, connect all terminal 0's. To cancel this function from
any control unit simply disconnect the terminal 0 connection.
R
All New 100 Series control units have the ability to receive intercom calls. To activate this feature, simply connect terminals 7 and 9.
R
All New 100 Series control units have the ability to temporarily cancel intercom reception by using the "do not disturb" function. To
activate/cancel this function, press the
intercom calls has been activated. A single flash indicates that the unit is ready to receive intercom calls.
R
Control unit 32199 also has the ability to transmit a general intercom call which will be received by any control unit having terminals 7 and
9 connected and not having the "do not disturb" function activated (see diagram e2.3).

6.1. Intercom Microphone Base for the New 100 Series

R
See diagram e2.6 for installation of one or several microphone bases for general intercom call transmission in 2 or 4 channel systems
(note that the connection for the microphone base is the same in both cases).
R
In two-channel installations intercom transmission by zones from a microphone base is possible with control units 32191 (two channels)
and 32196 (1 channel + FM tuner).
R
Several microphone bases connected to one or several control units can coexist in a single installation.
R
See diagram e2.7 for intercom transmission by zones in 2 or 4 channel installations (note that the connection of the microphone base is
the same in both cases).
R
The zone number assigned to each control unit is defined by the cable connected to terminal 9. Accordingly, zone number 1 is the zone
connected to cable Z1, zone number 2 is the zone connected to cable Z2, zone number 8 to cable Z8, zone number 14 to cable Z14, etc.
