SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOUNTING
HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE SEAT IN THE BICYCLE
1. Remove the LM mounting plate (H). Use the allen Key (H8) to loosen and
remove the bolt (H5). Totally disengage the LM plate (H) from the front seat
grooves (A1).
2. Place the LM mounting plate (H) in the bicycle luggage carrier. Make sure that
the connecting pins (H6) of the LM plate (H) are facing forward towards the front
of the bicycle.
3. After placing the LM plate (H) above the luggage carrier, place the metal
fastening plate (H1&H2) - underneath the bicycle luggage carrier. Make sure the
H1 plate faces the front and H2 faces the rear part of the LM Plate (H). Fit the 4x
bolts and washers (H3+H4) - 2 for the H1 + 2 for the H2. When possible, we
recommend fitting the bolts in the extremities grooves (3 & 4) of the LM plate
(H). This will offer a better connection between the LM plate (H) and the Luggage
Bicycle Carrier.
4. After properly fixed the 4x bolts (H3 + H4) to connect the LM Plate (H) to the
bicycle luggage carrier, securely hand tighten it, by firmly screwing the 4xbolts (H4)
in cross, and by step using the Allen key (H8) with a torque of 6N.m. This step is
extremely important for the child and cyclist safety. Shake the LM carrier plate (H)
to make sure it doesn't move and it´s firmly secured to the bicycle luggage carrier.
Note: After the final tightening, you may notice some deformation in the metal
fastening plates. So, if in a next application you use a carrier of different width, you
must replace the metal fastening plates by new ones. Please contact Dieffe.
5. Connect the seat (A) to the LM plate (H). Place the seat (A) above the LM plate
(H), in a position that allows the connectors pins (H6) to slot into the front grooves
of the seat (A1). This will fix the front part of the LM carrier plate (H) into the front
part of the bicycle seat (A).
6. Pull the seat (A) backwards and downwards to match the rear groove of the
seat (A2) to the LM plate rear groove connector (H7). Make sure the H9 washer is
properly placed into the rear groove of the bicycle seat A2. Place the bolt (H5) and
hand tighten with the allen key (H8) with a recommended torque of 4 N.m. This
will totally connect the seat (A) to the LM plate (H). Shake the seat (A) to make sure
it doesn't move and it´s firmly secured to the LM plate (H).
7. The child seat has a centre of gravity (F) (engraved on the child seat) that must
be positioned in front of the rear wheel axle. If it is positioned behind the axle, the
distance must not exceed 10 cm. If the centre of gravity is at an upper distance
from the axle, adjust the LM Plate (H) to one of the available positions. Special care
must also be taken when positioning the child seat to ensure that the cyclist does
not touch the child seat with his feet when cycling.
Note: In Germany, according to the German Traffic Law StVZO, bicycle seats may
only be fixed so that 2/3 of the seat depth or the Gravity Centre of the seat is
located between the front and rear axle of the bicycle.
8. Pass the safety belt (C) around the bicycle frame. Adjust it as shown in the
picture, under tension. Make sure that remain loosen belt is not in contact with
the wheel, so pass it through the safety belt retainer (C1). This step is extremely
important for the child's safety.
HOW TO SECURE THE CHILD IN THE SEAT
9. To place the child in the seat, first fully extend the retention system harness (B),
sliding all the strap adjusters (B2, B3) - this makes it easier to put the child in the
seat. Then, open the safety buckle (B1) by pressing the safety buckle button. Seat
the child, place the shoulder and waist straps and then close the safety buckle,
