2.5 Safe handling of ceramic fibers
The heat insulation of the sintering chamber consists of
ceramic fibers. Extended use or higher temperatures will
result in the formation of substances that, when released
into the air, may create a dust hazard, causing irritation
to the skin or eyes or the respiratory tract. The insula-
tion material used for this furnace contains ceramic fibres.
In the European Union, ceramic fibres have been rated as
follows, pursuant to EC Directive 97/69/EC dated
5 December 1997:
CARC.CAT 2; R49; Xi R 38.
Never open and expose the heat insulation of the
sintering chamber. Any repairs in this area must be
performed by authorized DeguDent GmbH personnel only.
