1 About this documentation
1.1 Documentation validity
This documentation applies to electropneumatic pressure regulators and base
plates from the series AV03-EP and AV05-EP. It is intended for installers, pro-
grammers, electrical engineers, service personnel, and system owners and con-
tains important information on the safe and proper installation, commissioning,
and operation of the product and how to remedy simple malfunctions yourself.
The
chapter g 13. Integrating AV-EP into an AV valve system
sequent extension of AV-EP pressure regulators for fieldbus connection in config-
ured valve systems.
1.2 Additional documentation
Only commission the product once you have obtained the following docu-
u
mentation and understood and complied with its contents.
- R412015575, Safety instructions, HF, AV, LS
- R412018507 Valve system assembly and connection, AV03/AV05 (assembly
instructions)
- System documentation (provided by the machine/system manufacturer and
not included in the AVENTICS scope of delivery)
If the valve system has a bus coupler:
- Bus coupler system description (only on CD)
You can also find all instructions, with the exception of the system
documentation, on the CD R412018133.
1.3 Presentation of information
To allow you to begin working with the product quickly and safely, uniform safety
instructions, symbols, terms, and abbreviations are used in this documentation.
For better understanding, these are explained in the following sections.
1.3.1 Safety instructions
In this documentation, there are safety instructions before the steps whenever
there is a risk of personal injury or damage to equipment. The measures de-
scribed to avoid these hazards must be followed. Safety instructions are set out
as follows:
Structure of warnings
Hazard type and source
Consequences of non-observance
Precautions
u
• Safety sign: draws attention to the risk
• Signal word: identifies the degree of hazard
• Hazard type and source: identifies the hazard type and source
• Consequences: describes what occurs when the warning notes are not com-
plied with
• Precautions: states how the hazard can be avoided
Meaning of the signal words
Hazard classes according to ANSI Z 535.6-2006:
Meaning of the signal words
Immediate danger to the life and health of persons.
Failure to observe these notices will result in serious health consequences, in-
cluding death.
Possible danger to the life and health of persons.
Failure to observe these notices can result in serious health consequences, in-
cluding death.

2 Notes on safety
2.1 About this chapter
The product has been manufactured according to the accepted rules of current
technology. Even so, there is danger of injury and damage to equipment if the
following chapter and safety instructions of this documentation are not followed.
1. Read these instructions completely before working with the product.
2. Keep this documentation in a location where it is accessible to all users at all
times.
3. Always include the documentation when you pass the product on to third par-
ties.
2.2 Intended use
The AV-EP pressure regulator is a pneumatic device with integrated electronics
that is only designed to regulate pneumatic pressures. It may be operated only in
the installed state together with the base plate in an AV valve system. Only use
compressed air as the medium. Operation with pure oxygen is not permitted.
The AV-EP pressure regulator is intended for professional use only.
The AV-EP pressure regulator may only be used for industrial applications. An in-
dividual license must be obtained from the authorities or an inspection center for
systems that are to be used in a residential area (residential, business, and com-
mercial areas). In Germany, these individual licenses are issued by the Regulating
Agency for Telecommunications and Post (Regulierungsbehörde für Telekommu-
nikation und Post, Reg TP).
