Pressure regulators are available in variants
• With parameters (PLC configuration keys K and M) and
• Without parameters (PLC configuration keys L and N).
For pressure regulators with parameters in the "Smart" type, the following set-
tings are available:
• Pressure range adjustment in bytes 0–2
• Control settings in byte 3

10 Commissioning the AV-EP Pressure Regulator
Before commissioning the AV-EP pressure regulator, you must first assemble the
valve system and connect it to your system (see assembly instructions for the bus
couplers and for the I/O modules, as well as the assembly instructions for the
valve system).
Danger due to loose screws, connections, or blanking plugs!
Danger of injury!
Check all screws, connections, and blanking plugs before starting the sys-
u
tem!
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces!
Touching the surfaces of the AV-EP during operation could cause burns. The
temperature on uncoated metal can exceed 64 °C and on polymers can exceed
85 °C.
1. Let the device cool off before working on it.
2. Do not touch the device during operation.
Shortened product service life if operated without operating pressure!
Operation with the supply voltage and set point applied, but no operating
pressure, can result in a shortened product service life.
Never operate the device without compressed air.
u
Commissioning may only be carried out by qualified electrical or pneu-
matic personnel or an instructed person under the direction and su-
pervision of qualified personnel (see chapter
tions).
1. Always observe the system documentation when commissioning the relevant
system component.
2. Make sure that the system is not under pressure.
3. Check all screws, connections, and blanking plugs once more before starting
the system.
4. Switch on the power supply.

5. Check the LED displays on all modules.
- The UL and UA LEDs must be green before switching on the operating pres-
sure.
- The DIAG LED must be off before commissioning.
6. If the LEDs are in the correct state: Switch on the compressed air supply.
11 Scope of Delivery When Ordering Individual
Components
Bit 0
Depending on the order, the scope of delivery contains either
• An AV-EP base plate, or
• An AV-EP pressure regulator.
11.1 AV-EP base plate
The scope of delivery of the AV-EP base plate includes:
• AV-EP base plate according to order with sealing kit, tie rod extension, circuit
board, and retaining clip (to fasten the pneumatic push-in fitting in the base
plate)
• Assembly instructions R412018508
• CD R412018133 with all AV and AES instructions
Pneumatic push-in fittings are not included in the scope of delivery.
11.2 AV-EP pressure regulator
The scope of delivery of the AV-EP pressure regulator includes:
• AV-EP in accordance with configuration
• Operating instructions R414007537
• CD R412018133 with all AV and AES instructions
12 Installation conditions
12.1 Mechanical installation conditions
Exceeding the number of base plates!
With more than 16 valve positions on the valve system, damage can occur if
the valve system is subject to oscillations and vibrations during operation.
To stabilize the valve system, install additional retaining brackets (36) (see
u
Fig. 11). The valve system does not need to be disassembled for this step.
Rule of thumb: If there are 17 valve positions or more, an additional retain-
ing bracket is required for every additional 8 valve positions. Example:
- 17 valve positions = 1 retaining bracket
- 25 valve positions = 2 retaining brackets
- 33 valve positions = 3 retaining brackets, and so on
The width of an AV-EP base plate corresponds to the width of four valve po-
sitions.
You can purchase retaining brackets from our sales department or
through our online catalog using the order number R412018339. Fol-
low the enclosed assembly instructions.
