Riving Knife Alignment
(Fig. 47)
IMPORTANT: The Riving Knife 24 must always
be in line with the saw Blade 32. The Riving
Knife 24 is thinner than the width of the kerf.
NOTE: The kerf is the width of the cut made by
the teeth on the saw Blade 32.
Checking Riving Knife Alignment
(Fig. 1, Fig. 47)
NOTE: The Riving Knife 24 has been properly
aligned at the factory. Check the alignment be-
fore making any adjustments.
1. Turn the Elevation Wheel 2 clockwise to raise
the Blade 32 to maximum height, and set the
bevel angle to 0°.
2. Remove the Barrier Guard Assembly 25 and
Anti-Kickback Device 26.
3. Assemble the Rip Fence 9 to the Silver Rip
Fence Index Bolts 58. (See "Attaching the
Rip Fence" on page 22.) Slide it until it
touches the tips of the saw Blade 32.
4. Check the alignment:
• From the top, look down over the Rip
Fence 9 and check that the Riving Knife
24 is in line (front to back) with the Blade
32 and parallel with the Rip Fence 9.
• Slide the Rip Fence 9 away from the
Blade 32, look over the front of the Blade
32, and check that the Riving Knife 24 is
in line with the Blade 32.

Adjustments
• If either of these inspections reveal mis-
alignment, proceed to "Adjusting the Riv-
ing Knife" below.
Adjusting the Riving Knife
(Fig. 43, Fig. 44, Fig. 48, Fig. 49, Fig. 50)
1. Remove the Barrier Guard Assembly 25 and
Anti-Kickback Device 26.
2. Remove the Table Insert 12. See "Removing
the Table Insert" on page 18.
3. Turn the Elevation Wheel 2 clock wise to raise
the Blade 32 to its maximum height, and set
the bevel angle to 0°.
4. Adjust the Riving Knife 24 so that it is in its
highest position. See "Positioning the Riving
Knife" on page 19.
5. Locate the three Riving Knife Set Screws 83
adjacent to the Riving Knife Release Lever
41.
6. Place a straight edge on the left side of the
Blade 32 against two blade teeth (as shown
in Fig. 49). The Riving Knife 24 should not
touch the straight edge.
7. Use the provided Hex Wrench 33 to adjust
the Riving Knife 24 by turning the Set Screws
83. A properly adjusted Riving Knife 24 will
be in contact with the straight edge all along
its width.
NOTE: If the Set Screws 83 need to be loos-
ened (by turning the Hex Wrench 33 counter-
clockwise), then also loosen the Riving
Knife Locking Screws 84. Loosening the Set
Screws 83 without first loosening the Lock-
ing Screws 84 could cause deformation of
the Riving Knife 24.
8. Lay the straight edge on the right side of the
Blade 32, and repeat adjustments as need-
ed.
9. Place a square flat against the left side of the
Riving Knife 24 to verify the Riving Knife 24
is vertical and in-line with the Blade 32 (as
shown in Fig. 50).
10. If needed, use the Set Screws 83 to bring
the Riving Knife 24 vertical with the square.
11. Repeat step 6 to verify the position of the
Riving Knife 24. Repeat steps 7 through 10
if necessary.
