Fusing Assembly
Periodidly
cleaning the Fuser Separation Pawls (claws) (see Figure 4-6) will help prolong the life
of the printer's Fusing Assembly.

The fusing area gets HOT. Also, be careful not to get toner on clothing; it may
stain.

To clean the pawls:

Turn the printer OFF.
Fully open the Top Cover Assembly.
Push the rear section of the Fusing Assembly (the section toward the rear of the printer) fully
open. You will be able to see the four black plastic Fuser Separation Pawls (claws) along the
lower edge of the section just pushed back (see Figure 4-6).
Clean the tip of each pawl with a cloth dampened with water. Avoid contact with the main
portion of the Fusing Assembly.
