ATTENTION Check the thermal compatibility between pumped fluid and pump materials: in particular, for the
pumps using parts in NBR, calibration of the protection device must prevent the pumped fluid exceeding the
temperature of 90°C. For the pumps using parts in VITON® or TEFLON®, the above quoted calibration values
are valid.
The temperature limiting device must be connected to the electric control panel; connection must be carried out
by qualified personnel and in compliance with the current Standards. The temperature limiting device supplied
by Varisco is a J type thermocouple equipped with two section cables equal to 0.5 mm
7. EARTING CONNECTION
For the JP range pumps, the equipotential connection with electric motor that will be assembled is guaranteed upon assembly
of the same motor, as long as the surfaces of the coupling flange are cleaned.
For the JS range pumps, the installer must envision an opportune ground and/or equipotential connection of the masses.
For the JX range pumps, the equipotential connection of the equipment masses is guaranteed by the manufacturer and the
ground connection must be carried out following the technical Standards of pertinence and respecting the use instructions of the
components.
In all cases, the cables used for grounding or for the equipotential protection circuit must have adequate section and the contact
surfaces of the connections must be clean and protected from corrosion.
Refer to Fig. 2 for the ground points.
ATTENTION All electric connections on the pump and on the plant, must be carried out in compliance with the
current technical Standards of pertinence. The electric plant must be carried out by qualified personnel in
compliance with the current legal specifications.
ATTENTION The pump must always be grounded independently from the motor or other part to it connected.
The lacking in grounding or incorrect grounding voids the safety requisites and protection from danger of
explosion.
There must always be electric continuity between the pump and the other elements connected to ground.
8. MECHANICAL SEAL
It is possible that the seal is damaged and the liquid contained in the pump leaks; the user must evaluate such event and take
the due precautions so that the liquid does not interact with the external environment.
ATTENTION Inspect the seal of the pump at every maintenance intervention and immediately stop the pump in
case of leak. The leaking seal must be replaced following the instructions reported in the "use and maintenance
instructions" of the pump. Varisco original spare parts must be used.
The mechanical seal must be lubricated using liquid - compatible with the pumped liquid - that will be contained in appropriate
tank supplied with the pump; in case of compatibility, we recommend using oil for SAE 15W-40 engines. A branch is interposed
between the container and the lubricant liquid for the connection of a temperature sensor: meaning the pump is arranged for the
detection of the seal temperature.
It is the responsibility of the user:
- to connect the heat sensitive element, if necessary, to a temperature measuring instrument certified in accordance with
Directive 94/9/EC (the instrument is excluded from the Varisco supply);
- to periodically check that the lubricating liquid tank is always full and, if necessary, top-up.
Reported in Fig. 1 is a layout of the lubrication circuit and of the application of the heat sensitive element.
9. SAFETY DEVICE TO PLANT DELIVERY
It is absolutely essential to install a pressure limiting device near the pump delivery. Such component must be CE marked in
compliance with Directive 97/23/EC (PED) in category 4 as safety device and in compliance with Directive 94/9/EC and respect
the prescriptions of 1999/92/EC.
ATTENTION The absence or the non correspondence of the features requested by the safety device of maximum
pressure voids the safety requisites and the protection against danger of explosion of the pump.
The intervention pressure of such device must be obtained from the performance curve of the pump relating to the used rotary
speed, as indicated in the following examples.
Example 1. At rotation speed of 2900 rpm and at the capacity of 50 m
must be calibrated so that the pressure does not exceed 52 m that is the value of the maximum pressure relating to the optimal
functioning field of the pump (large line in Figure 3).
Example 2 (see Figure 4). At rotation speed of 2900 rpm and at the capacity of 13 m
pressure speed device must be calibrated at such a value so that the pump never functions at null capacity (therefore, in the
example, at a value between 54 and 56 m).
ATTENTION An incorrect calibration of the safety device of maximum pressure voids the safety requisites and
protection against danger of explosion of the pump.
