ALARM MESSAGE SUMMARY
Table 4 briefly describes all of the alarm messages that may appear on the Automated Impella
Controller when used with the Impella RP

Action
The purge system has stopped. Initiate
De-air Tool and follow the instructions to
remove the air from the system.
Plug controller into AC power.
Plug controller into AC power.
1. Plug controller into AC power.
2. Press switch located on the underside
of the controller.
3. Switch to backup controller.

Controller Alarm Messages
Cause
There is air in the purge tubing.
Battery power has 15% remaining
capacity.
One of the batteries has failed.
A battery switch is turned off or
there is a malfunction of the switch.
Battery temperature is greater than
60°C.
Complete Procedure serious alarm
(yellow; see next page) is active and
the user has not responded for an
additional 2 minutes.
There is a problem with the controller
electronics.
The controller has detected a purge
pressure sensor defect and has
stopped the purge system.
Power switch pressed for 15 seconds
while Impella RP
Catheter still

connected.
Running Impella RP
Catheter
®
disconnected.
There is a problem with the Impella
RP
Catheter motor.
