DCN Discussion System

Eng
For use in multi-lingual discussions, the DCN
system can also offer comprehensive facilities for
simultaneous interpretation and distribution of
the interpreted languages.The interpretation
system uses interpreter desk(s) LBB 3520/00
which can be fully integrated into the standard
discussion system concept. The interpreter
desks LBB 3520/00 provides interpreters with
all the facilities according to internationally
agreed standards. Refer to Section 9 for a
complete description of the Interpretation
system. Distribution of the languages to
interpreters and participants is through the
DCN system trunk-cabling.
Language distribution
Distribution of the interpreted languages can
be carried out using the DCN system cabling
(wired) or by an infrared system (wireless). In a
wired system languages are accessed and
selected by means of delegate/chairman units
with built-in channel selection facilities i.e LBB
3531/.. and LBB 3534/.., or by using stand-alone
channel selector units LBB 3524 or LBB 3526.
In a wireless infrared system, languages are
distributed throughout the debating area using
an infrared transmitter and radiators, and
accessed using personal infrared receivers with
headphones. (For more information refer to
the data brochure for the Infrared Language
Distribution System, code No. 9498 975
0931x).
Instructions for use
6. Installing the system
Warning: Before installing a system, read
the section 'Important safety instructions'
and Safety precautions found at the
beginning of this Instructions for use.
Always disconnect the CCU from the
mains supply before removing its cover. The
mains plug must be an earthed type and
the CCU must be earthed via the mains
supply using the green/yellow wire in the
mains cable.
A thermal fuse is fitted inside the CCU
and operates on the primary winding of
the mains transformer. This means that
although the mains indicator LED may be
off, the full mains supply voltage can still
be present inside the CCU.
System Installation
Due to its advanced digital technology, its
modular concept, and its cabling technique the
DCN system can be installed quickly and
efficiently in any conference venue.
Figure 1 shows a typical example of a
discussion system layout.
By simply daisy-chaining the DCN units using
the loop-through cabling method, any
configuration can be put together.
Mounting microphone units
For portable systems, the contribution units
can be free-standing on a level surface - such
as a table-top. For more permanent
installations, the units can be nut/bolt mounted
to the table-top surface using the M3
threaded hole located under the unit. In such
an installation, the units cable securing clamp
at the rear of the unit (fig. 5 ) can be removed
from the cable entry (fig.3
allowing the units 2 m (6.5 ft) cable to be
neatly run through a hole directly under the
table-top surface.
