are exhausted in a continuous volumetric stream via
the transfer system into the disposal system.
The openings in the receiving system prevent any
increase in expiratory pressure or any negative
pressure in the breathing system.
System description
The anesthetic gas receiving system AGS is not
applied as an independent system. It is used as one
of the three components of an anesthetic gas scav-
enging system AGSS. The other components are:
Transfer system, comprised of transfer hoses
(1 or 2), which connect the waste-gas exhaust
ports of the basic device (Dräger anesthesia ma-
chine, Dräger ventilator) to the receiving system
Disposal system, comprised of a terminal unit,
ejector and scavenging hose.
Observe the corresponding instructions for use of
the AGSS terminal unit.

Assemble AGS in accordance with these in-
structions for use.
Positioning AGS on a basic device

Hook AGS with the slots over the appropriate
pins of the basic device and allow it to slide
down into place. Observe the instructions for
use of the basic device.

Positioning AGS on a rail

Fit rail clamp to the receiving system.

Hook AGS to a rail and secure with the twist
knob.
Connecting the receiving system
Connecting transfer hose
CAUTION
Risk of personal injury
When connecting or disconnecting hoses, al-
ways grip the sleeve. Otherwise, the hoses
may be overstretched and damaged.
 Observe the instructions for use of the corre-
sponding device.
If one transfer hose is used:
CAUTION
Close the nozzle that is not used with a screw
cap.

Push the transfer hose on the designated noz-
zle.
If two transfer hoses are necessary:

Remove the screw cap from the nozzle.

Push the second transfer hose on the nozzle.
Connecting the sample gas return line for
anesthetic gas monitor
The AGS can additionally receive and scavenge
sample gas extracted by an anesthetic gas monitor.
 Observe the instructions for use of the corre-
sponding device.

Connect the sample gas return line to the sam-
ple-gas outlet of the monitor.

Plug the hose connector into the coupler on the
receiving system until it clicks into place.

Connecting scavenging hose

Connect the scavenging hose to the relevant
nozzle of the receiving system.

Connect the connector of the scavenging hose
(A) to the terminal unit of the disposal system
(B).
WARNING
Risk of personal injury
Perform a self test of the anaethetic breathing
system including the fully installed AGS be-
fore use.
Check the flow tube for proper functioning.
AGS control valve NPT (for US and
Canada only)
 Disassemble AGS container and flow tube.

 Screw in AGS control valve as far as possible.
Make sure not to damage the O-ring. If the final
position of the AGS control valve does not allow
the mounting of the container for buffer volume,
loosen the valve until the container can be
mounted.
 Mount flow tube and AGS container.
 Connect all transfer and scavenging hoses.
 Plug in gas probe and set flow. The red float in
the flow tube must stay between the two marks.
Operation
WARNING
Risk of personal injury
The suction flow must be checked before and
during operation based on the float position in
the flow tube.
If the suction flow is too high or too low, see
"Fault, Cause, Remedy".
