5.3.2 Signs
"NOTE":
Comply with local regulations for signalling areas protected by
the anchor post.
5.3.3 Checks before commissioning
Any anchor post installation, before commissioning, must to be
examined in all its visible parts, to ensure it complies with the legal
requirements, and safety standards, especially BS EN 795/2012.
Tractel
®
recommends using an approved inspection body for this

operation. This review is at the user's initiative and expense.
Acceptance tests are carried out at the user's initiative and
expense.
The tests should demonstrate compliance with the BS EN 795-
A/2012 Standard, as well as local regulations.
"IMPORTANT":
Before commissioning an anchor post, the installer must check:
• All fixings are properly implemented and that they are properly
tightened.
• That the anchor point at the top of the anchor post is correctly
secured.
6. Access to the area protected
by the anchor point

6.1 Preliminary recommendations

"IMPORTANT":
On each access to the protected area, the operator must conduct
a visual inspection of the anchor post, and make sure it is in good
condition, that there are no missing parts, no distortion and that
all elements are properly secured together.
"DANGER":
If in doubt do not intervene on the roof; prevent access until the
post has been repaired by a qualified technician.
In case of bad weather, comply with the labour law rules in the
country where the anchor post is installed.

6.2 Checklist

"IMPORTANT":
• Check that the post is secure and all components are securely
attached to each other.
• Make sure that the components of the anchor post (anchor ring,
tube, mounting plate, plate fixings) are not deformed or corroded
or loose.
• In countries requiring the presence of a warning sign, verify the
presence and conformity of the sign.
"DANGER":
ANY DEFECTIVE COMPONENT MUST BE REPLACED.
7. Irresponsible use prohibited
Use of the Tractel
®
anchor post in accordance with this manual
provides a full guarantee of safety. However, the operator needs to
be warned against the following irresponsible uses and handling:
"DANGER":
It is strictly prohibited:
• to use the anchor post outside the framework of a fall arrest
system.
• to use the anchor post as a means of raising loads
• to use the BS EN795-A/2012 and TS 16415-A/2013 anchor post
for a higher number of users than: 2 and 5 people for posts used

on a lifeline in conformity with EN795-C (depending on the
technical file).
• to use the anchor post that has arrested a fall, without it having
been checked and tested by the manufacturer or an authorised
service engineer.
• to use an anchor post for a period greater than twelve months
without having it checked by the manufacturer or an authorised
service engineer.
• to use an anchor post if its resistance is too low or is estimated
as such.
• to use of the anchor post if, during the fall, the user(s) may hit
an obstacle.
• to use an anchor post if the user(s) have not read and understood
this manual.
• to use the anchor post at temperatures above +60°C and below
-35°C or in a chemically aggressive environment.
• to install and use the anchor post without considering how any
rescue could be effectively and safely provided.

8. Malfunctions

Maintenance operations must be performed by technicians,
installers or qualified after sales engineers, authorised by the
user, in line with this manual.

9. Emergency procedure
in case of incident
"DANGER":
The user must, prior to the commissioning of an anchor post,
prepare an emergency and response procedure in case of an
incident occurring in the area protected by the anchor post.
Operators must be equipped with means of communication,
to trigger an emergency call and summon assistance in the event
of an incident.

10. To disassembly

Remove the fasteners that secure the posts to the structure.
If the disassembly of the post requires opening the sealing
complex to access the structure of the building, you must call
on a professional to guarantee the sealing work.
