OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
10.6 EQUIPMENT CLEANING
Depending on the products and customer needs, may be necessary to
perform a first cleaning of equipment and installation before start-up, in
order to remove dirt that may have accumulated during the shipping.
Customer experience is the best method for choosing the cleaning
system, products to use, frequency and intensity of cleaning to perform.
Before carrying out any cleaning operation, it is obligatory to ensure
that the cleaning agents are compatible with the equipment's materials
and its accessories (joints...). In case of doubt, it is recommended to
remove all accessories before cleaning.
Equipment can be inspected from the sight glass or manhole.
If for any reason the user decides to access to the interior of equipment
through the manhole, it is VERY IMPORTANT to consider the following:
-
Disconnect the equipment and take all necessary measures in
order to prevent an accidental start of equipment while people
are inside.
-
Customer should know the products that use and, in case of toxic
or hazardous products, should proceed to take appropriate safety
measures.
Initial cleaning
Procedure
Eliminate all leftovers from polishing, cleaning the reactor's entire
internal surface thoroughly with a rag.
To eliminate stains (with a rust-like appearance) that form due to the
residual humidity from tests (FAT) carried out with water, apply a damp
rag, a nitric-acid solution at 3% v/v maximum to them.
Put hot potable water (60-80º) and detergent into the reactor.
Circulate the hot water inside the reactor, and if possible under pressure,
until all waste is eliminated, as well as impurities from the detergent.
Rinse two or three times with distilled water or demineralised water.
Frequency
First cleaning after installation. Mandatory for all new equipment
constructed with stainless steel, before carrying out the corresponding
validation process.
