Checking the Chemical Protective Suit for Leaks
To avoid any overloading of the Porta Control
ure alternately:
1 Open hose clip for air supply and briefly actuate air gun,
then reclose hose clip.
2 Open the tube clamp for Porta Control
sure at the pressure gauge, then close the tube clamp.
Inflate the protective suit until it is free of folds and Porta
®
Control
displays 17.5 mbar.
Close hose clips.
Set the test time to 10 minutes and start the stop watch.
Hold pressure at approx. 17 mbar during this time so that
temperature and pressure can equalise. Boost pressure via
hose clip and air gun if necessary.
26
Disconnect the compressed air gun and open the tube
clamp. Lower the pressure to 16.5 mbar and close the tube
clamp. Set the test time to 6 minutes and start the stop
watch. Read off the pressure on Porta Control
test time has run down.
If the pressure drop is smaller than or equal to 3 mbar, the
protective suit is considered as tight. In this case, disassemble
the test set-up and check the suit valve.
If the pressure drops by more than 3 mbar: coat critical areas
such as seams, cuff, zip fastener, glove and boot connections
with soapy water and mark any leaks, then rinse off soap solu-
tion, ventilate and repair suit. Then repeat leak test. Alterna-
tively, the chemical protective suit can be sent to Dräger for
repair.

clip. Do not overload pressure
gauge.
2 Set the test time to 1 minute and
start the stop watch.
Read off pressure at end of test
time.
If the change of pressure is less
than 1 mbar: The suit valve is OK. Disassemble test set-up

and refit protective cap. The opening of the protective cap
1
points towards the feet.
If the change of pressure is greater than 1 mbar:
Dismount and visually check the valve disc.
Valve disc and seat must be clean and undamaged. Replace if
