5.3.3 Clean or replace the air filter
Risk of fire or explosion: for a foam element, only use soapy water and clean engine oil during this operation.
IMPORTANT
1.
Remove the nuts (A4) and the enclosure (A3) to access the air filter (A25-D2).
2.
Unlock the attachments of the air filter cover (D1) and remove the air filter cover (A2).
3.
Remove the foam element (D3) and the paper element (D4).
4.
Clean the foam element if its condition permits: wash it in soapy water, carefully rinse it and leave it to dry completely.
5.
Soak the foam element in a little clean engine oil and squeeze it to remove any excess oil (do not wring it out).
If there is too much oil remaining in the foam, the unit will emit smoke when it is first started.
6.
Replace the paper element with a new element, then refit the filter elements.
7.
Refit the air filter cover and lock the attachments on the air filter cover.
8.
Refit the enclosure by retightening the nuts correctly.
5.3.4 Replace the spark plug.
9. Undo the screw (E1) and remove the spark plug access cover (E2).
10. Remove the spark plug cap (E3).
11. Use a dry air spray to clean the spark plug wells.
12. Using a spark plug spanner, remove the spark plug (A24-E4) and discard it.
13. Fit a new spark plug in position and tighten it by hand to avoid damaging the threads.
14. Use a spark plug spanner to tighten the spark plug by 1/2 turn after it is seated to compress the washer.
15. Refit the spark plug cap.
16. Refit the spark plug access cover by tightening the mounting screw correctly.
5.3.5 Cleaning the generating set
To ensure it continues to run correctly, the unit must be cleaned regularly. If the unit is installed inside, always check that the
installation is clean and in good condition. If the unit is being used outside (building sites, dusty, muddy or densely wooded areas,
corrosive environment, etc.), it must be cleaned more frequently.
Use of water sprays or high pressure cleaning equipment is prohibited as this may seriously damage the unit.
1.
Use a brush to gently clean the engine air intakes and outlets and, if present, the spark arrestor.
2.
Using a damp sponge, clean the outside of the unit and dry it with a dry cloth.
3.
Check that the unit is in a good general condition (no leaks, bolts, fittings, hoses tightened, etc.)
4.
Replace any defective parts if necessary.
Only use original parts and consult an agent if necessary.
6 Transporting and storing the generating set
6.1
Transport and handling conditions
Before transporting the unit, check that the bolts are correctly tightened, close the fuel tap (if fitted) and disconnect the starter battery (if
fitted). The unit should be transported in its normal operating position; never lay it on its side. The unit should be handled gently and
brusque movements should be avoided. Ensure that the place where it is to be stored or used is carefully prepared beforehand.
6.2
Storage conditions
Drain the fuel and change the engine oil :
1.
Start the unit and allow it to operate until it runs out of fuel.
2.
Set the switch (A7) to
3.
Clean the screen filter (A14-C1).
4.
With the engine still warm, change the engine oil.
5.
To access the fuel drain screw, undo the screw (E1) and remove the spark plug access cover (E2).
6.
Place a suitable container at the outlet of the fuel drain pipe (C2).
7.
Undo the fuel drain screw (C3) and allow the fuel to drain fully into the container before tightening the drain screw.
8.
Place the fuel tap at OFF
Lubricate the cylinders and the valves:
9.
Remove the cap from the spark plug (E3) and the spark plug (A24-E4
10. Pour approximately a teaspoon of engine oil in through the spark plug opening.
11. Refit the spark plug, the spark plug cap and the spark plug access cover by retightening the screw correctly.
12. Pull the starter-recoil reel handle (A19) several times to distribute the oil inside the cylinders.
Disconnect the battery:
13. Remove the nuts (A4) and the enclosure (A3).
14. Remove the nuts from the battery housing (A4).
15. First disconnect the red cable (+) then the black cable (-) from the battery.
16. Remove the battery retaining strap (A5).
17. Remove the battery (A6) and store it in a clean, dry place.
18. Close the battery housing cover and refit the nuts.
Store the generating set:
19. Clean the outside of the unit with a cloth and apply a rustproofing product to any damaged areas.
20. Cover the unit with a protective cover and store it in its normal position, in a clean, dry and well ventilated area.
This procedure for storing the unit or protecting it over the winter must be respected if it is not used for a period of up to 1 year. For longer periods of storage, it is
recommended to contact your nearest agent or to start up the unit for a few hours every year, ensuring that the storage procedure is respected afterwards.
