Putting into operation
WARNING
Health risk caused by inhaling harmful dust
The device contains harmful dust that can collect on surfaces and penetrate the ambient air as of the first use. It can damage the respiratory tract when inhaled.
► Check and wear your personal protective equipment.
► Use the device only in rooms with sufficient ventilation.
► The provided fume extraction system must be used when operating the device.
► Immediately remove dust deposits from the environment with a dust class H industrial vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth.
► Keep the air regulator closed if possible, and then open it only briefly.
WARNING
Electric shock due to touching live components
Touching live equipment parts may result in potentially fatal electric shocks.
► Only hold and move the welding torch using the intended handle piece.
WARNING
Electric shock due to damaged or improperly installed components
Damaged or improperly installed components may result in potentially fatal electric shocks. Components include: welding torch, cable assembly, spare parts,
wear parts.
► Inspect all components prior to each use and check that all connections are duly installed and undamaged.
► Clean soiled components immediately.
► Replace damaged components immediately.
► Damaged, deformed or worn components must only be replaced by an electrician who has been trained by ABICOR BINZEL.
4.1
Preparing the welding torch for cable assembly installation
1 Switch off the power source and unplug the power plug.
4.2
Equipping the welding torch
The welding torches are fully equipped upon delivery. Information about
replacing the wear parts and the wire guide can be found here:
4.3
Connecting the cable assembly, Fig. 1
1 At the wire feeder: Insert the central plug in the connecting socket.
2 Secure the cable assembly with the connection nut.
3 Connect the coolant supply (blue) and coolant return (red).
4 Check the coolant's minimum fill level.
► Recommendation: Use ABICOR BINZEL coolant from the BTC range.
4.4
Bleeding the coolant circuit, Fig. 2
1 Place the collection receptacle under the connection for the coolant
return (red).
2 Disconnect the coolant return hose from the cooling unit and hold it over
collection receptacle.
3 Seal the coolant return hose's opening.
4.5
Connecting the extraction hose
► Connect the extraction hose of the extraction system to the suction
connector on the cable assembly.
4.6
Connecting the shielding gas and setting the gas volume
1 Select the appropriate shielding gas for the welding task.
2 Briefly open the gas supply valve and close it again to blow out any
contamination at the connector.
4.7
Feed in wire
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to entering the device's work area
There is a risk of injury in the device's work area.
► Check and wear your personal protective equipment.
► Ensure that no one is in this area when the device is in motion.
1 Cut off a small piece of the start of the wire with a cutter to remove any
burrs.
2 Insert the wire in the wire feeder according to the manufacturer's
instructions.
2 Switch off the gas and compressed air connector.
 7 Maintenance and cleaning on page EN-34
► To prevent damage to the welding machine, do not use deionized or
demineralized water.
► Purge the coolant circuit the first time the equipment is commissioned and
with every cable assembly replacement.
4 Abruptly open then seal the coolant return hose's opening several times
until the coolant flows into the collection receptacle continuously and
without air bubbles.
5 Reconnect the coolant return hose to the cooling unit.
3 Connect the shielding gas to the welding device as per the
manufacturer's instructions.
4 Adjust the shielding gas volume to the gas nozzle used and the welding
task and save the setting.
3 Press the <zero-current wire feed> trigger on the wire feeder until wire
emerges from the contact tip.
4 Cut off any protruding wire with the side-cutting pliers.
